Just got to Gary. Trying to back in to a spot and getting crowded by drivers. Van driver pulled right in front of me as I was trying to straighten out. Worse than a truck stop.

Sitting at home after a crazy night in Wisconsin! I was going good yesterday on I-90/94/39 in the snow. Had to stop at Cottage Grove for fuel. Almost got stuck trying to fuel. Fueled. Pulled ahead and almost got stuck again. Pulled out to leave and couldn't make it back up the hill. Just slipped and slided. No snow plow had been through there in a while. I had to back down from the exit to get back in the entrance. While I am sitting a cop comes up and puts light on. Not for me, but for the flat bed the tried after I didn't make it and he spun out. He backs into the exit and a sheriff clears traffic for me to back down and get a run at the entrance. I hammer it in and park behind another truck. Long story short. Once I park, I am stuck. I can't go forward at all in the lot. Another truck pulls in next to me, another behind me, and before long I was blocked by 6 other trucks.

For those of you who know Cottage Grove Road Ranger, IT IS SMALL! I watched for hours as drivers came in and left. There was only one way out, around the scale. About once an hour, if not more, a truck would cut short the turn and have to back up for 20 minutes trying to get the trailer right to make the turn. Sometime around 7 PM a Schneider truck ends up running of the pavement during the turn and blocking the exit. The only way out was now over the scale. What a night!

The best part was trying to leave. Once again, had to wait for trucks behind me to clear out. Woke up at 4, three trucks had left. Woke up at 5, 2 more gone. About 5:30, I hear a horn. Look out and all the trucks blocking me are gone, except for one other Schneider truck. Other driver wakes him up to move. He gets out and starts "complaining." "What do you want me to do? Where am I gong to park?" I am standing right next to him and calmy say, right there, there, or there. He "loudly" continues to B and Moan, but he moves.... into the fuel island. The other driver leaves and then I start my backing.... or try to. Could not move forward or back. Had another driver see if my trailers tires were moving and they were. I had to dig out some ice and snow and try again. Finally got out and down the road.

One Note: On I-90 near Lacrosse, I saw a flatbed that lost it load and flipped. Tractor was on the roof. Not sure how he got there because he was right next to the Interstate. Worse part. I think I saw that truck come through Road Ranger last night. Couldn't really tell by the truck, obviously, but by the load it looked like one I was looking at on the fuel island on one of my trips to the facilities.....

Well, setting at the Loves in Nashville, TN. I was rolling threw all that snow on 39/90/94 to Fridley,Minn. delivered at Conway at 00:30, Picked up load in Belle,WV. There were a lot of trucks all mashed up. I didn't have any problem, just took my time and kept plenty of distance between me and everyone else. The whole trip went really well, didn't have any problem with the snow at all.

Alrighty, finally made it to coke in Hartford, so it wasn't a reefer load. Ended up having to drive back to the other side of Philly down 76 past the eastbound valley forge plaza about 20 miles get off xt turn around and go back to trade trailers. Other driver I guess ran out of time to make Bensalem. Delivery was 0100. I made at 0400. All good though get unloaded and about 40 min to home. The routing was a bit long though. So when I fueled at pilot in Milford CT I updated eta and added.
"Need to remember to ask routing if they can possibly find a more out of the way route with even more stop lights." 276 to 95 up NJ31 to US202 to I-287 N all the way around to I-87 then over tappanzee bridge.
