Yes very nice place. Been there once. A truck was cleaning the porta potties at the check out and I missed the sign to stop and pick up my bills. Went to guard shack and had to turn around. They weren't that happy.... :biggrin_25523:

No problem with the crane loader (though I didn't have to ask him to reposition the coil) and the people there were reasonably nice; I'd just mentioned that this was my first time picking up here and they walked me through the process. Spent about 2 hours in line waiting to get loaded; some of the other drivers in line (not Roehl) were rather irate that many of the truckers being loaded were staying in the loading bay while they secured and tarped their loads. (Seems like a legit beef -- yeah, I want to get at least a couple securements on before I pull out of the dock, but it was a nice day outside and there was no need to tarp while parked in the dock.)

No, what made it a true saga was finding where the building/dock was in the first place. The directions said "Go here, or if dock # is over 60 then go there" and I was picking up at dock 74, but it turns out that the "go there" in the directions was completely wrong...and there are no signs from the street that list the dock numbers at the various buildings. To add to the comedy, the shipper's phone number listed in the load assignment gave me a message that it was disconnected (my FM tried too with the same result). Eventually we got ahold of one of the local Gary drivers who gave the magic location. My FM wants me to send him the correct directions; apparently everyone who picks up at dock 74 just "knows where to go" and hasn't needed to follow the stored directions. :)

Now parked until Monday AM at Smith's Grove Travel Center, I-65 x39 near Bowling Green KY. Not many places around the Woodburn/Russellville area to park, it seems.

Woodburn is a nice easy unload. Just get in line where it says shipping, go in the man door, check in on computer and do what everyone else does. Smiths Grove is kind of a dump but Wendys next door has clean bathrooms and food. :)

I'm glad they have clean food! Seriously thanks for the tip.

Yeah, just delivered at Woodburn this morning, 2nd time I've been there. The previous time I was delivering an Arcelor coil too, but had picked it up as a relay in Gary rather than at the shipper. This most-recent coil must have had more than the usual amount of protective oil in/on the coil, as it leaked a nice puddle onto the deck of the trailer that I suppose I'd better clean up somehow before I slip on it.

Duct tape, plastic bag from pilot ts, and windex..now going into the escape pod..

Really...maintenance line, i only lost 3 hrs of drive time. I did do my pretrip, just learned a lesson..it did not take long for them to burn up..never got out of the yard.

Took service guy 45 mins to replace them both.

As a matter of fact I am. Of course I won't be able to catch you. That load I had to pick up at the railyard in Langhorne wasn't there until 1100. Now I am at the TA in Bloomsbury, NJ getting tire on this mt I picked up looked at. One of the tires was at 35 psi. The mechanic just showed me why, a nail embedded in the tire. I will be picking up tomorrow morning and delivering on Monday in North Vernon. Were the loads you picked up in Fremont and Carteret already past the original pick up date? Mine were.
