You doubt what? I was just trying to get some good info before going to roehl on the 13th i would like to know what to expect from someone who's been there.

I remember hearing the exact same thing back in the '70s regarding the steel industry in Pittsburgh. Steelworkers were making around $15/hr (equivalent to ~$60/hr today) - a very comfortable wage - yet that wasn't enough.
The unions ended up putting most of the local mills out of business, and the area has never recovered. -
That is fine. Now you can work for an entity that will change their pay plan, raise their insurance premiums, and not pay you for delays. Your only say in the matter is take it or leave it. If I were you I would look into the railroad. Where you live you can take a train to Fargo, sleep in a hotel, train back to the cities and go home. This pays about $900 for two days of work. The benefits and retirement is also better than anything Roehl offers.

He's a smart Alec. But that is a very general question. Do you have specifics you are looking for? There are some on here from upstate that could help you, other things like pay time off etc...
-
And you have no idea what my plans are, no idea even if I'm satisfied with what I currently have. Just because you weren't doesn't mean others feel the same. How about you worry about yourself instead of trying to push your stuff on others. No one here is telling you what to do, think, or feel anyway. How about some reciprocation.

I am not!!!!

Whatever dude. I offered a suggestion. I wish I looked into the railroad earlier. I even had a student tell me about it when he quit Roehl because he got in. I blew him off and it will cost me thousands of dollars and will have to work a couple more years before I retire.Last edited: Apr 14, 2013

Every train engineer I know has watched people die...multiple times. Like it's not bad enough on the roads. They don't hire just anyone either...plus more 'training'!

Im not allowed on the railroad. Grandpa used to drive those things and drink at the same time. Im glad you are happy with your union job. Ive been a member of the Laborers Union, the Machinists union and a Teamster. All they ever did for me was steal my money.
