Big driver turnover means big new newbie class at 3,000 dollars /person. And when they get through that's a lot of cheap labor out there for 14 months (if they last that long). Everyone, go get your RED TRUCK and prove me wrong. But one day/night you'll be thinking while you're waiting for a planner to "get back with you" and you'll remember what you read here.

Homeboy, I'm trying to give you the benefit of doubt. But you are making it very hard to do. You refuse to say who you work for now, and do nothing but bash Roehl. I'm sure that you worked for them as you have stated, but you cannot seem to come up with anything even remotely positive to say about them. I am taking everything I read to heart with a grain of salt, because there are two sides to every story. Good luck with your current employer, they way you talk about them they sound too good to be true.

O.K. Here is something "good" about Roehl. The training program is pretty good. Facility and instructors are top notch. Again, where I work now shouldn't be an issue regarding Roehl and my experiences. I don't care if you believe me or not. I spent 14 months there and my experience is this: If I lost this job I have now I would not go back to Roehl. Go ahead and work for Roehl. I don't care. I am trying to give you a heads up as to what to expect. You probably won't earn a bonus as the mileage you need to achieve one won't be there or you will over idle your truck in the heat of summer while waiting for a dispatch, you won't get the miles they advertise, you may or may not get home as defined in their hometime plan, etc., etc.
Start with the first post in this thread. Way, way back you will see names of people that have come and gone. There are other threads on this site about Roehl. Read them. Jot down notes and look for people that post here and see who is left. I'm not telling you not to get instruction from them. Get it and do your indentured servitude to them and find a real job. If it fits there then you have a much higher tolerance for B.S. than I do. It wasn't there for me.
Just think about one point: If there wasn't money in training students Roehl would not be in it. How do you get more students? Make room in the fleet for new drivers.
Now how do I do that? Don't have very many happy drivers. Roehl constantly hires new drivers, as do most companies. And I know trucking isn't for everyone and natural attrition will take place. But there are enough drivers out here to fill all voids in a good company if the employer is as good as the printed pages describe.
The company I work for hasn't hired a driver at our terminal in the past year and a half. Most of our employees have been with this division since it moved to our current location 15 years ago. Sure, a few have left for one reason or another, but we have many drivers with over 10 years tenure. And no, they do not train new drivers.
Good luck with your decision and if you choose Roehl I wish you luck. Sure, you could do worse, but you can do much, much better. -
Well I take things with a "grain of salt" also. But I think people forget which forum they are in when they say you are "bashing a company" ie telling people whats wrong with a company and not balancing it with positive statements.
Report A BAD Trucking Company Here Post your comments/discussions on a bad trucking company to let fellow drivers know about them before they make a mistake! Try adding the trucking company name as a topic first to draw attention to that company
So hear ye , hear ye, this forum is for comments /discussions on what is bad about a company. Not the good ,bad, and ugly. -
If thats true then why is it OK for Homeboy to do his hate Roehl thing on the Discuss Your Favorite Trucking Company Here thread. Let the moderators decide whats acceptable for each thread. A little disagreement on any thread makes for good reading.

Posting opposite opinions is allowed. WE will not allow things to become bicker central, nor will we allow inflammatory comments.
Those posting opposing opinions should be prepared to be countered, but those counter opinions must remain civil. -
Looks like I stirred up some ill feelings! Not intended. Point is to make you aware of what to look for and what not to expect. Go to Roehl or wherever. Take your experience and post it here. I wish I could have gotten some accurate information before I left for Marshfield. Instead, I believed the recruiter and put faith in what was printed on the brochure.
Good luck to all. I truly hope you find what you are looking for.

I wonder why it is so hard for people to realize that there are other companies to work for besides Swift, Schneider, J.B. Hunt, Covenant, US Express, USA Truck, Crete, Schaeffer, Sunflower, Prime, England, Paschall?
Come on, people. Every company that constantly advertises is a revolving door. Think about it. If I have a good company and treat drivers well, drivers will come to me looking for employment, I don't need to waste time glorifying myself in RPM or truck Job Seekers. If you simply must rot at one of the above horrible companies for a certain amount of time, by all means do it. But know what to expect, Use 'em and lose 'em. Just like they to to thousands upon thousands of drivers each year.Last edited: Feb 17, 2009

Hello my name is Johnetta and I worked for roehl and even as awful experience it was I have always had a philosiphy of what dosent work for one person just might work for another I refuse to bash this company because its just not my style and whatever they choose to put out there about me is something that cant be changed and I refuse to stoop to their level of idiocracy I would have worked for them no matter what I read on a blog choosing a trucking company and hopefully finding the right one is all about luck because a driver could tell you their company is the best company in this world you get hired on and its the worst company youve ever worked for so I say people do your research and make your own decisions about a company all these negative things that get posted just scare drivers and make them wonder if their in the right line of work
Lilbit Thanks this. -
Very well said! Every person has their own individual personality and needs. Not every company is going to fit every person.
