It is crazy people takes something so little out of text...wasnt saying nothing about people not know what hard work is or talking crap about roehl..i think its great they pay for training cause i don't know another company that does so that say something for them.i just don't it cost alot to live on road for 5+days depending on how long your out..thats why i was tring to get a feel for what they are making solo after training...thats all..to all the truckers out there thank you for what you do n being away from your familys

You can mitigate the cost of living very easily, specially if it's for 6 -12 months and not for life.

I love me some steak and asparagus for dinner but since I was sent home for medical reasons I've had to adapt my tastes to suit my budget. It's ham and frozen peas instead. Did you know you can buy a 10lb chunk of ham for under $8? That goes a long way. Water is $4 for 42 bottles instead of the 3-4 coffees I normally drink per day. Sure water out of the tap would be cheaper but I refuse to drink water I can smell. A case of 36 packs of Ramen Noodles is about $8 at Sams. Grab some 59 cent tomato sauce cans at the dollar store to change it up a little.

Living on a truck doesn't have to be costly. I'm sure many of the drivers here could tell you a hundred ways to save and eat on the road. You might not be eating gourmet, but it's temporary.

Each person must look at opportunities in life and determine if those opportunities work for them or not. Do the risks outweigh the rewards? Each person must weigh that as it applies to their life and circumstances. We all view things from different perspectives as all of us have differences, some severe, some subtle.
My road in trucking is just beginning, interview tomorrow. I too thank all those who have been doing it and those here on this site that offer experience and suggestions to those of us starting or those who seek help.

My recruiter mentioned they start at 35 cpm for national and 34 cpm for regional. Goes up one cent at 3 months and 2 more cents and 6 months after being solo. For regional they aim for drivers to avg 2300 to 2600 miles a week, more for national. Link to their benifets and cost is on their website. That should help you figure the math a bit better.

I'm sure there are weeks where guys make $500 a week but I am looking at the pay on a monthly basis not weekly. One week you could make $500 then the next $700 then the next $800 then the last month back down to $500. If i can clear $2,400 a month i would be perfectly fine with that my first year.

If I decide to make the jump, it will be Midwest regional. I'm e-mailing my recruiter tonight to ask a few more questions and get an idea of what kind of timeline I'd be looking at.
