Good luck, I'm waiting for interview tomorrow. I already have fed med card and CLP so it's just the other informalities that need to be taken care of to schedule a start date for me. I'm looking at going OTR dry van or reefer to begin.

Waiting on medical clearance paperwork, tentatively scheduled to start Feb 6 in AppletonGeorgeg144 Thanks this.

I had my hip replaced on Nov 8. The company Roehl contracts to run medical checks had an issue that I am not yet cleared to return to my current job but was cleared on a federal medical card 10 days ago. Apparently it is difficult to comprehend that the physical requirements and job description for working in a prison are different from driving truck, LOL. The DOT physician that issued he my Fed Med card was fully aware of my recent hip replacement. She had me verify full range of motion and joint strength. I obviously passed if I was issued the medical card.

I completely understand where a good doctor comes form in terms of ensuring these physicals are legitimate. Don't want unsafe drivers out there right? However, if someone can pass the test why the hold up? Sounds like you are in a less than desirable situation. Could be worse though right? Good luck!

That's the problem, it's not a doctor holding it up. The doctor cleared me, it's a medical consultant having an issue because they can't comprehend that I could be cleared to perform the duties of a truck driver but not be cleared to perform duties in my current job in a max security prison. It will sort itself out this next week.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 15, 2017

Will hope all works out for you..keep us informed..thinking of going with roehl myself

Finally got to speak directly with the Dr that gives the 'go' 'no go' decision. After explaining why I'm cleared to be a commercial driver, but not cleared to work in a max security prison (I thought it was obvious, different jobs, different physical requirements) she signed off and cleared me. I now move on to the drug test and DOT physical on Monday, neither of which concern me. Should be good to go for Feb 6.

Good to hear...hope all goes will..keeps so undated on your experience

I have been driving for plenty of years, 3 million plus and still driving. If you had a hip replacement you should reconsider driving commerically.
BBetween extreme cold, and hoy to long strechs of needing to stay in the truck your hip is going to cause you difficulty.
Be safe, and dont trust doctors or employers, they are not looking out for you, thats your job.
