Roehl Reefer Fleet

made it to my cons without the qc auto kicking me on duty or driving this morning...and i didnt even have to drive slow...i figured out on this one that it does it by distance.....
got unloaded at my cons this morning then headed to springfield to pick up a relay that has been in the yard a couple days that was going to maine....when i realized how long its been in the yard the first thing i thought of was that it was almost out of fuel and that was going to priority number 1

I get there and low and behold the local guy is sitting there i guess he called in about my trailer being low on fuel...but it ran out of fuel and died about an hour before i got there...fing wonderful now its time to race the clock and the temp gauge....i get some fuel at a local truckstop...but its not that easy...reefer units run off of suction and don have fuel pums like cars so you have to prime them and get all the air out of the system...so i start pumping and the diesel starts coming out of the bleed valve with all sorts of air....long story short...i pumped for 2 hours before there was enough air out of the system to keep her running...max temp achieved..19 degrees whew that was close...

 

alright after all night last night and part of this morning at the kennebunk rest area/service plaza in ME I took off to my shipper in Mass...got there early...and then waited for 5 hours before getting loaded...oh and I had to stand there and watch them load it...no SLC at this place....4 other drivers and I stood in this freezer warehouse bs'ing while we waited for the 2 loaders to show up.....they finally show up and get to loading...I got loaded in about 2 hours...well that didn't leave a whole bunch of drive time...so now I am at a TA just accross the Mass line in connecticut...I got sick of dealing with NE traffic...considering its amatuer week and everyone that has a car is deciding to be on the road trying to cover 1k miles in a day non stop....LOL...so I called it quits so I didn't have to deal with the friday rush in New Haven or Hartford....

 

more like where don't they send me...lol i should almost be a resident of new england as much time as i spend there lol

 

Chilling in Gary....have no load...and want to go home....supposed to be home on tuesday anyway...

 

alright going to get a 34 hour reset before I go home and have another....GRRRR....I know its a holiday weekend...but I have been sitting here since sunday AM....and didn't get any loads...it wasn't until i asked to dead head home that I got a load..but it load tomorrow...and delivers WHILE I am at home in the Early AM...also got to clean my truck out...going to call my FM and switch my last day to the 8th so I have all weekend with the kiddos...my youngest boy goes to the Shriners in the Twin Cities on the 12th...so I want to turn my truck in Before that.....

 

My reflections on the reefer fleet....its not too terrible...the miles are a bit on the shallow side compaered to vans...but the places you pick up and deliver to are a whole lot easier to find and get into....so its really a tradeoff...the FMs micromanage a little too much for my taste....if i had to do it again would i have switched to reefer....probably not.......if it doesnt work out for me at this smaller company i will come back to roehl.....an probably pull vans unless i get sick in the head and want to stretch tarps...

 

I have about a week or two before i leave roehl completely.....i will stay in touch...probably pop in on the check in and other threads cause i am subscribed to them lol....i will let yall know what truck ij am in too so yall can wave at me or when you see a guy waving at you from a strange truck as i pass you lol....
