I'm a trainer for roehl. Students are made to only drive 6 hours a day. They CHOOSE to drive anymore then that. And they are on a salary of 90 dollars a day plus 25 dollars living expense while in training. Soooo they get 115 a day regardless if they drive 6 hours or if they have to shut down early. And if the trainer forces them to drive when 1. They are not comfortable with road conditions. 2. Forced to run past 6 hours. 3. When the trainer is not in the jump seat or 4. When trainer is logged sleeper birth or off duty for more then 2 hours as the student drives. The trainer gets removed from the program. We don't run teams. They are here to learn and we are there to show them. How about Werner and England running their "trainees" like teams? And everyone always mad at the new guys when they rip off your bumper at the flying hook at 2 am because the trainers passed out in the back. These ppl don't know the inside of the truck from the lady at the fuel desk. Guys who complain about this issue are the ones that can't hack the new training program and ones to scared to speak up. No sympathy for the first and empathy for the later. I've graduated 16 guys. None of them have had an accident and 12 are still with the company.

Oh and if you "babysit" a load....you may need to call marshfield. They will have some very choice words for staying up past nap time to watch a trail or do nothing. Sorry for being rude. But if you've had any of these issues pm me and ill give you personal numbers to call. We revamped this system last year and this craps not tolerated.

i guess the original story is completely fabricated -
I've read this before. And there is a counter suit for buisness slander. Notice how all of the before mentioned people didn't last a week? I'm not saying its all false. Forced to drive is probably true. We have drivers that are money hungry just like all companies. I have personally ratted out one guy because he was bragging about doing this exact thing. He didn't get pulled off the program he got run off the job completely. As for the wages, they are talking about accumulative pay. They gross roughly 625 a week after the living expense, which they can get tax free from an ATM at any time. I agree there are some things we have to iron out for the class mate generation but ever since Rick took over the company and kicked out the board of directors he's doing away with policy's that allow things like this to happen. Just don't want my company to get a bad rep.

Plenz3 keeps spewing out all this hot air, but the only thing I'm hearing is if you expect the company to own up to their own promises, follow the law and provide the trainees with what they're owed based on what the trainees agreed to when they spoke with their recruiters....in other words, if you expect a company to do everything they're supposed to do and you also have the backbone to hold them responsible when they fail to do so, you're money hungry, or ungrateful, or somehow beneath the other drivers who work for that company. These guys just want what they're entitled to by law. They're not willing to be company slaves who don't have the guts to say or do anything when they get the shaft, just for the sake of keeping their jobs. That isn't the only company in the world. They can go elsewhere for employment. But as long as they're employed by Roehl, then Roehl must step up and fulfill their end of the bargain by following through with what they told the trainees they were gonna do. It's called basic human decency and being honest.

Dishonesty and fraud are so engraved into this industry that when anybody dares to speak out and stand up against it, they're the ones who get attacked. The rocks are rarely thrown at the companies who are responsible for it, when they should have boulders being thrown at them on a regular basis.

Oh and you are a current employee and trainer/trainee? You know Sooo much about this particular company. I admitted there was people that abuse the systems. And actually we do hold those guys accountable. Don't believe me? Ask any of our drivers. And these "people" were let go after one week. It's a bunch of people that were too scared to speak up even after they had their rights explained to them many times. No its not hot air. This isn't england. We aren't werner. We do it right and responsibly. 650 dollars a week for 6 hours of work a day sure sounds hard. If you don't believe that's all they have to drive I'll be more then happy to take a picture of the policy out of our guide lines books and send it to you.

1.) Since the megas keep trying to bring in the newbs, they're gonna have to accept that some people don't like working for free.
2.) Frankly it's not a bad concept,,, you know, to actually get PAID for work?
3.) I hate the idea of raising the minimum wage (only leads to inflation) and since we're only now seeing the results of the last min wage hike now ($4 milk anyone? How about the $2 dollar menu?) of course the Pols want to spike it up to $10/hr. Problem is it took me years to make $15/hr and in the last 10 years I've gone from 300% minimum wage to 170% of minimum. Wonder where my disposable income is now?
I'm one more min wage hike away from tossing my CDL, I'd rather deliver pizzas and be home every night then deal with this trucking BS if I'm going to make less in the end.
