accelerate slightly if you want but I Found instant instincts kick in till your professional ones do and stop you from making the mistake. more important than getting back on the accelerator is to hold the truck as straight as you can it will shove you the opposite the tire blow on then pull you back towards it in a split second.
When mine blow I was driving a boiler truck with two 250gal propane tanks about three feet from my head it blow 3/4 of the hood off and front was airborne going left then landed (at least it felt that way I am sure it was not really off the ground) and pull back right held tight and straight for a few seconds then let it pull just a little to the shoulder till she rolled to a stop.

Note (before someone say I am saying half truths and can't keep the story straight) I noticed I had said right then left in the first post It was left then right I was in slow lane doing about 65 on I 65 just south of the ky line so yes I was going slower than the speed limit since I was hazmat. Yes I was a few miles over when I should have stopped to do my tire check I should have stopped jst north of Nashville but thought I would get the extra 30 miles and past the TN scales then stop at the rest area in KY. I know these are issues a few will have with me so I will read later how I am a terrible driver did it all wrong but hey I lived there was no big boom new tire and rim and home the next day its all good

There are a couple FMR's (Farm to Market Road) down in Texas that have narrow shoulders (i.e. 6-inches or less in spots) that are posted to 70mph.

Plenty of two-laners with varying degrees of shoulder in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado with speed-limits varying from 60-70mph.

56 dumping into Boise City from the Northeast can be a little wild with wind, especially at night.
