Recite the DOT regulations for haz mat railroad track stopping before, and not on.
Even if you were not carrying HM.

Don't know where/if it's in the regs, but the FMCSA has a Rail crossing safety deal that says that drivers should make sure they can clear a crossing without stopping before starting across.

Rayville, Louisiana. If you look at a satellite view, US80 runs parallel to i20. There’s a high rise RRXX that runs right between 80 and 20. The big town intersection is at US485 and US 80. Sudden death for car haulers and lowboys. They get hung on the tracks and murdered by a train all the time.
The safer way into Rayville is to go 1 exit east. High rise track is still there, but not as high. There’s a stop sign there like OP dealt with. You cannot stop. You will get high centered and then scrambling to get the train stopped.
I would rather you run that stop sign all day than stop on a track. But in typical stupid mega carrier Braindead ain’t never been anywhere but has an answer for everything safetyman fashion, he’s more interested in justifying his existence than public safety. Truck cattle prod nanny cam calls me out. I call you to verify and you say stop sign RRXX conflict, You should thank me. But then, public safety is not on the agenda, is it?
Good job, hand. Six back quiet.Last edited: May 16, 2024

You do not stop on RR tracks. Period. Do you know the reasoning behind this ? It's because your equipment may fail, that being your clutch or transmission. So in a bad situation, you stop on the tracks, and then attempt to go, and you drop your tranny or cannot engage clutch. Now you in deep do-do.

We were told, since we are an all auto fleet now, to put trans in manual mode for railroad crossings to prevent it from shifting.Sons Hero, viper822004 and austinmike Thank this.
