Let's just ignore the truck's empty CG, and just consider the load CG using the trailer floor as the zero line. So a load of steel a foot tall would have a CG 6" of the floor. A cubed-out light load in box will have its CG at about 54" off the floor. The lever arm of the light load is 9x that of the heavy load (54/6 = 9) so unless the light load is less than a ninth the weight of the heavy load, the light load will make the truck roll at a lower speed.

So a cubed-out load of 5k lb will have the same potential for rolling over as a 45k lb, foot high load of steel.

    Class dismissed! :D

That’s why for all the cussing people do about spring ride equipment, that was one reason why I actually liked it.

Course there is always tankers. Had a dude running an unbaffled tank of water i was following in the bakken once take a sharply banking curb at about 5mph and slide sideways on the ice before stopping. The tank slosh combined with the steep bank was enough to roll him over even though he wasnt moving.

Never drove a truck hauling swinging meat. But made a few trips with my Dad hauling it when I was a little shaver . Running US 41 from Chicago to somewhere in Georgia.

from what I've heard, swingin" meat was like a tanker with no baffles.

drove tankers and had no idea there were ones with baffles!! lol

One load. Klamath Falls to Corning for a Parker truck that broke down.. Never again. Once I figured out how to ease into and out of the turns it was just scary and no longer terrifying.
    One load was enough.
