I read about this new product, Zero Breeze, it's portable , light 14 lbs, batteries are heavier, runs on lithium battery up to 5 hours ,normal power outlets , car 12 V . It was designed for outdoors, tents camping , perhaps would cool down a truck cab,it's the smallest portable AC unit ever built, priced for about 650$, plus 350$ for a lithium battery sold separately, lots of good reviews all over internet/ YouTube.

I was just quoted on Friday for a new carrier apu. $11995 out the door installed. 24 months warranty or 4000 hours.

Do you worry about hitting hard bumps or anything and how long does a tank of fuel last?
Thanks -
I'd estimate the condenser weighs 40-50 lbs. I used 2x2x1/8 angle iron to fabricate the bracket holding it to the cab. There are eight 5/16 bolts with fender washers securing it to the sheet metal where the window knockout is. Just above and below the bracket, there are steel reinforcements inside that are approximately 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 box beam. I don't think it's going anywhere.Last edited: Apr 22, 2019

After setting off my CO detector a few times when the wind blew exhaust fumes up under the cab, I installed the exhaust pipe you see pictured. It's just an Espar heater stainless exhaust pipe connected to 3/4" steel conduit and hose clamped to the truck's exhaust stack bracket. It exits straight up maybe an inch above the cab. A little Permatex Ultra Copper seals the flex pipe to the muffler and conduit.
I had to remove the spark arrestor and the flex fit perfectly over the remaining stub coming out of the muffler.
I do have to make a temporary cap to go over the pipe when I run the truck through the Blue Beacon. Their overhead rinse system filled the pipe with water. The next time I started the generator, I got a shower with rusty brown water. Running down the road in the rain doesn't seem to allow very much water in. It just steams a little bit for the first few minutes.Slowmover1 Thanks this. -
Got to admit the set up is cleaver. With what U have I can’t see any advantages of a apu.
