Looks good, I'd be interested to see how it holds up... For myself I'd grab the old 5 gallon Jerry Can and have it mounted to the side of the diamond plate box. Safe to carry no issues with DOT as long as its in an approved carrier, less than 5 gallons won't cause any issues.

I don’t know what the law actually says, but I do know if you cut lawns for example it’s got to be a DOT gas can. Yes they make one. Lots of folks in communist states get tickets if they’re a commercial operation and are running around with ordinary gas cans in the open.

I have carried a gas can forever. Little 2 gallon or whatever as my gen uses a gallon a night. 8 hours. I keep it in a box I mounted on the truck. No it isn’t vented either. The gen goes inside. I don’t leave the can full, only the gen and it has a fuel shut off cap thingy.

With all that said I imagine if you meet the wrong DOT officer he will have a field day with explosive gasoline in a can strapped to your catwalk most likely with straps that are not rated. Bungy cords have no load info on them and therefore are illegal.

just something to think about if someone comes along and finds this thread.
