Hello all. Ive been driving for many years and have been an o/o for about 6 years. Ive already had to replace the a/c compressor twice. Im considering a rooftop a/c unit on the cab, not the sleeper. I run locally so Im home every night, but #### the FL summers are brutal. I have a 379, so my cab's sf is about 36. A 5000 btu unit would be more than perfect and could still be powered from my batteries or 3500 watt inverter.
Any advice or info is welcome. Thank you.
Rooftop a/c info needed for my daycab.

Go for it I actually love the look of the red dots on the old trucks, usually your only 2 options are off or freezer temp though
OLDSKOOLERnWV, Old Man and Coolbreezin Thank this. -
The new red dots are nice. everything is self contained in the unit. Compressor and the two hoses straight to unit is all you need. Not having a condenser in front of radiator in the southern heat is a plus.

We are kinda spoiled here because we have Vintage Air’s original shop in Bracken. They will install a custom system in anything you can bring to them. They will custom make them for anything odd ball. A friend of ours had his ‘51 Mack LT done there last summer. First one they had done. They used his truck to design the kit for others. It is all under dash.
OLDSKOOLERnWV, Jubal Early Times and Ruthless Thank this. -
dometic rtx 2000 is also an option, I have one going on my sleeper this summer. A little spendy but supposed to be pretty efficient

Thank you all for the great info.
SmallPackage Thanks this. -
Are you talking about a camper style rooftop? If so that’s going to look janky mounted on a daycab
-
I had one installed by camping world on my last truck. They work great but if you manage to freeze it up it destroys the plastic fan cage. Mine did 2 times...

The new Red Dots are low profile. They look just right on a classic style cab.
