@lil penny you can check out big G express, averitt first fleet along with abilene. Theres a higher chance of you getting better hometime since you live in Tennessee.

Ok good idea but I have speeding tickets which means I'm limited on who's going to hire me...so far only Schneider and PTL

I have applied with all sorts of companies. Some did me a favor and didn't reply. It was a good thing. :)
I've had all sorts of replies. Even one recruiter at Prime saying they don't hire where I live. Another very good recruiter saying they can get me home. No problem. I think some of these recruiters are just overworked.
The big thing is to get the applications out there. Go fishing. Can't get replies if you don't contact them. I have eight offers for jobs.
I have all sorts of opportunities. Local jobs even.
I've accepted, verbally, one job in a near state. Six hour drive to get there. 45 minutes by plane. Excellent pay for OTR. When I told him I wasn't worried about home time. He then came back with a run that he will give me, it's 3 times a month. He will arrange it so that I can take my 34's at home, 3 times a month on that run. Now that's appreciation!
I have this one job. I don't even graduate from CDL school until the 20th of this month.

I'd at least apply at Danny Herman Trucking in Mountain City,TN.
They don't run Northeast which is a big plus for many drivers. Most of their freight runs I-40 and below and lots of Texas border towns. They have 2 facilities in Southern California which you'll see often.
They're strict on hiring, but I'd try anyway.

Did you tried big G yet, I mean if Schneider is willing to give ya a chance I don' see why big G wouldn't.

I would say it entirely revolves around the amount of home time you are looking for. If your company does "rounders" on established routes, and you are getting home every 5-7 days, you would want to find a job close to home, so you can take advantage of that home time.

If your company sends you out for 2-3 months before giving you home time (and you are okay with that), then being somewhere further away wouldn't be a big deal (especially considering home time won't just be a reset, but likely upwards of 7 days.

And like I say to everyone who comes through my orientation class or cab of my truck: Never say "NO!" to anything dispatch asks of you, unless it breaks the law. Do your job, put in your time, and you WILL be rewarded.
