Rookie mistake or common mistake?

If the finger tips are out, they're no longer gloves. Most of us learn our lessons the hard way though. It was just your turn.

I keep three pair on me at all times. One for fuel and working on the truck, one for any work regarding loading and unloading, and a spare. All wells Lamont leather gloves, which are about 10 bucks at tractor supply or Wal mart.

 

That's something you hopefully do once. I live in Texas and keep a stack of shop rags along with my gloves just incase I need a little extra padding to keep the heat away.

 

Had one of them moments myself last Friday, well not really a mistake just a rookie move. Now i got to replace a bumper mount

One of the reasons I run yellow tarps, not black.

 

Dude its like having a steering wheel cover but on your hands. I was hooking doubles up the other day and got grease on my steering wheel talk about annoying dirty hands.

I'd say common mistake. I hear about a lot of drivers who have been driving for 20+ years forgetting to put the parking brake on and crashing their truck.

I Cary sets of gloves,but have been known to make a mistake and grab a hot piece of metal.

Last year in 120+ heat I went to get in the tractor and grabbed the door handle with bare hands. Was not a good day chaining down or the heat.

 

Paint the bar white. Even though some of the paint will inevitably chip off you are still better off. I do that with most tools that I use outside (I live in Phoenix). It only take about 5 minutes for chrome or black tools to get too hot to touch. White still gets hot but its tolerable for a few minutes.
