The biggest rookie mistake I have seen is that they think they were taught how to drive a truck in CDL school.
When in fact all they were taught was how to pass the CDL test.

At least that is the way I see it .

That's great but what is the right way? You don't seem to offer that. Easy to criticize.

The right way is to watch the old hands that just go out there and do the job with out whining crying or ######## about it .
The right way is to ask questions with out being a smart ###.
The right way is to know enough that you don't know it all .
The right way is to drive a truck because you want to not because you can't make as much money by working at McDonald's.
The right way is to do your job and not expect anyone to notice you do what you were hired to do.
The list of The right way to do it goes on for as long as you are willing to learn.
After 30 years I am still learning the right way to it every day .
I hope you will still be learning and loving this job after 30 years too because we are going to needing old hands that will talking about the good old days when CSA 2010 was so much better than whatever then newest brainstorm of the day is for SAFETY .

Besides that someone will have be the grouchy old fart 30 years from now and I for one hope it will be you !!!

Like Forest say's that's all I got to say about that !!!

I guess the right way is like when I used to run sound systems. I always said if I did my job right, no one knew I was there. If I messed up, everyone knew about it.

as I tell my newbs when they come in , the license is in your name, not the name on the door of the truck , if you don't feel good about it don't do it ! .
