The next time you make a delivery brush your teeth, comb your hair and go introduce yourself to the shipper near you. Pass out business card.

Denver isn't the best market. Whenever I go there I usually dead head to NE or KS for a load of meat.

Be careful not to burn a bridge. There are a few decent folks there with some good loads at good rates. The same could be said for all the big brokerages. Don't let a bad interaction with one douchebag lead to some not so truthful remarks in your carrier record that the good guys might see and just never call you.

Relationship building is the hardest nut to crack in this business, next to staying ahead of equipment costs. Over time you will gravitate to a short list of go-to people that have loads in lanes you like to run. They're not going to load you with their best offers until you've established a track record of no claims, good communication, and on-time performance.

That goes hand in hand with knowing where and when to put your truck. There's some good suggestions here, but ultimately it's going to be different for everyone and you won't figure it out overnight.

Keep looking your bound to find a niche. try a different lane, just because you don't meet a shippers needs at that moment in time don't mean they won't ever call. TQL has you pegged as a cheap trk, they know your in need so its in their favor. Good luck!
