Actually next I have to drive to RDTC in Marshfield WI to begin phase I which is 3 weeks of driving and classwork. 150 in truck and 10 in class I think. Then to Phase II 8-13 days with a trainer OTR. After that I get my CDL in WI and begin phase III which is me alone driving OTR for @12 weeks to get my experience up before they put me in my 7/7 reefer fleet out of Ohio.

What kind of driving do you do now and how many miles are you getting? What is your 1 year goal and your 5 year goal if you have them?

There's a Women Truckers Network blog radio with shows every other Tuesday. Folks can either listen online or use the call in number to listen to the show. If you want to ask questions during the show you just press 1 & it lets us know you want to say something. Here is the link http://www.blogtalkradio.com/womentruckersnetwork

I've had a few of those there alright. I liked this one better because those over the head ones mess up my hair (I'm a girl I can't help it) and the part that goes above your ear irritated my skin. I liked this one better because you have options of how to wear the Bluetooth

I've been using the navigation on my phone for the past 2 years. None of my trucks ever had a GPS in them and when I had one it was a magallan road mate regular one for cars and had it for 3 years before it kicked the bucket. I've seen some of the ones that some companies installed on their vehicles and they are nice but I wouldn't dish out $100's of dollars for one.

@Mr Boles.......I didnt know that putting "student" meant that u actually are going through the training process...i labeled myself student because i went to trucking school in sept. of 2012 here in california and gained my class a....so i already have my cdl, i just needed to get hired :) So when I go to fontana for orientation, i will be attending class then otr training.

As far as headsets, yes, truckers have told me to make sure i get one because i do not want to get caught using the phone. and GPS, i guess u could get one when u get ur own truck....possibly, ur trainer will have one, but i have been told not to 100% rely on them, to use a map as well. :)

And right now, my plan is to learn everything i can, i want to focus on absorbing everything to set me up for success. My goal is to work for cre for as much time as i can before all the negative issues hit me. well, not like i wont run into BS, but i need good skills. then possibly getting into a local company, or west coast region route....maybe hauling products for starbucks, or fedex...these 2 companies, i know ppl who can get me in, but i need otr experience. so for right now, this is what i have in mind, but i am open to other options, i will see when the time comes :) what are ur goals?
