Eh I figure there's bigger things in life to worry about getting killed. Like all the things at the chrome shop I can't afford lol. Too bad they tell you to keep your radio off. I can see why they told you to keep it off. Mine is always on unless I'm out in BFE and then its off because there ain't nobody out there anyway so whats the point of having it on? That radio has saved my butt a few times and that's why its always on. But that's also good advise. Don't let the idiots in school tell you not to listen to other drivers for directions either. Half the time they're more reliable than the shippers or recievers.

I would hope that MOST drivers would be nice on the radio.

Ok, got it...i know i would trust a trucker who has actually been out there driving and know the roads than a dispatcher. Men should think about thier mommas and daughters before they start talking #### to a woman who isnt even doing or saying nothing to them.
But like i said, ive had it tuff and i do know how to defend myself. Its me more learning how to ignore comments.

And im pretty sure as i gain experience of safety, i will worry about other things like chrome shops, right now, my safety is a big deal for me and those who love me.

Most are we help each other a lot but there's always a few bad apples out there. I do what I can to help I've had drivers help me before finding places and helped drivers find places. That's what makes it worth it. The main thing as a rookie is showing respect to the veteran drivers. They ARE willing to help the rookies if you treat them right. Weather its the CDL mills or what even the one day I was in school the people that had never driven a truck were telling people what to do when to do it and how to do it. First day no cdl never been in a truck but they knew it all. Attitudes like that no way in hell are you going to get anywhere or make any friends on the road. I ask questions every day and be respectful every day. You'd be surprised what apologizing after making a mistake on the road does as well. I got in a pinch one day screwed up but apologized got a response of "it happens driver its alright have a safe trip". I compliment guys on their trucks when I get a chance or see a nice looking truck ya know its just a nice thing to do. A lot of people take pride in the truck they drive and giving a compliment can make a drivers day better as well. Its all about respect and wanting to learn.

Yes I agree a lot of the pigs need to think about that. And yes safety should be your main goal. I dropped in to gray bill chrome in rock port yesterday on the way home. Said hi to the people I usually deal with and told them to have a happy 4th of July. I still worry about safety as well its always a concern and top priority but I also like to wind down on occasion and relax. Everybody has their own way of relaxing on the road. I prefer to walk into the truck stop late at night and look at all the goodies I can't afford, or spend half of my new mandatory break walking around the chrome shop looking at goodies. I aint married, no girlfriend, no kids, what else do I have to spend my money on lol so I dream about truck parts and what I want to do with my truck in time.

Another thing some rookies don't understand is there is a time and a place to get into trucking. Do it when you are young, no family single etc. Its harder than hell being away when you have kids and a wife or husband to come home too. I'm in the position to make a killing because I don't have anything tying me down. I can be out for weeks or months at a time if I wanted too and be okay with it. I cannot count how many times I've read about people with kids getting into this or married people and their spouse not liking what they've decided to do. Does it make it easy when you are out searching for a potential partner eventually nope. When you're long haul and gone it ain't easy but ya just gotta find somebody that understands and it loyal. Hey that gives me an idea for another section of the forum. TRUCKER DATING hahaha. Oh god wonder how that'd work out? :biggrin_25526::biggrin_25526: lol

Lol, do it, se what happens ..... And of course, u have been trucking now for a while so u would know when and how to relax...i cant wait to get to that point. And new madatory break?? What is that about?? Ur company giving u more breaks?

True, i can see the hardships of getting into trucking having a full fledge family, i dont have spouse nor kids neither, i have a sister and a nephew who will be worried about me, thats my family. I can give it my all because i have no tie downs neither.

True, i have seen nice ### custom trucks out there that look like i want to be in

I agree, respect is key...in everyday life, whether its ur elders, parents, bosses, community doers, its all about respect. This has been embedded in me since i was born, im mexican hahahahaha....respect is a big factor even in our dialect and how u use and spell words

Depends on the other driver. You can look at that both ways. Some are slobs(mty pop cnas rolling around on the floor, ect.) and don't even clean the Windows. Others are a pleasure to work with. Fuel the truck after their shift, you know the right way.
