I have a job waiting for me locally that pays .48 mile home 2 times a week 90% of the time.. plus it's less than a mile from my house. The CATCH... I need 18 months experience and 2 winters of driving for their insurance to let them hire me. Have to pay my dues but who knows? I am going with Roehl and I have heard really good things about them from current and past drivers... I may end up training for them someday. I used to teach new pilots to fly and taught drivers to drive in 4 wheelers.
I like the $600-800 a week, will it be wise to get some kind of experience somewhere and then get a local gig, wont that put me in a higher money bracket? I have seen local job postings where some companies require 6 months experience
Yep. I have a dog so he kinda gives me the motivation to go out and walk. I have one of the Coleman coolers now too I use for now I like it too but its my 6th one.
Getting experience is never going to hurt you. I can only speak for the Ag trucking industry when it comes to pay. Everyone is paid the same unless you're hauling anhydrous or aqua amonia. In the LTL and intermodal sector I'm sure more experience would equal more pay.
When I 1st started driving my silly self got curious plugged up a blow dryer up to the little 400 watt inverter. I will never ever ever ever do that again. My truck was in the shop for 2 days.
as soon as i get my own truck, i want to get a dog too, truly, i do want to be on the road, i want to go out and experience different cities, different personalities, i have lived where i am now for a lonnnng time and i wouldnt mind the change of scenery.......ppl have told me if i get my own truck it would be wise o have a dog with me.....also, i hear that some of the TA's are getting gyms in them, is this true???
ok, i know where delano is, is willits still in cali? 7 years a trucker, i salute all the truckers in here who have years of experience, big ups and much respect to you
