And nose the tractor down bobbing everything, annoying the *&^% out of everyone in line of sight.

Some of those engines, being deaf as I am... if the jacobs is REALLY abusive, I can hear that classic ringing music, closest analogy to sound would be a small bell or a smooth grenade bouncing across a slab concrete or brick. DING! DING!! DING!!!....

A guy who uses 4 ways when backing is often the same guy who tops a rolling hill and sees traffic stopped on the road and throws his 4 ways on to warn you ... both instances are Professional in my book

I'm an old timer with a very recently acquired new automatic. I am trying to learn how to back this thing up. It either goes way to slow or takes off like a rocket. I haven't yet figured out how to maintain a steady, reasonable speed while backing up with this rig. Manual shifting is disabled, so that's not an option. So I go to the truck stops looking like an idiot who can't back up. It's frustrating.

Get a pair of square toed western boots with a half smooth oil resistance sole. AND especially a set of square heels a inch tall.

Get that heel into the metal notch on your fuel pedal And toe it just enough to get moving. Make sure you freeze right tthere while stiffly planting your heel into the cab floor. It should freeze your toes to where you can maintain 2 mph at say 800 RPM without the engine nosing down and whip sawing you back and forth in low.

You might even when moving, have the auto in manual mode, slap the paddle two times. She will shift to second gear, drop RPMs instantly to IDLE and then walk off with it at idle.

Don't touch nothing but steering wheel as neccesary as you walk through the truckstop at idle.

No metal notch on this fuel pedal. I've tried the slap the paddle two times trick too, all I get is a pop up warning on my digital display that says "Manual shift mode disabled". It has "creep" mode but it is agonizingly slow. I can go slow going forward, reverse is where I run into issues.
