Alligators are always awnry because they have all those teeth and no toothbrush, in a truckers case, all that fuel and off duty status with no LOAD

Speaking of fuel...HH, what did you do for fuel on those runs across the ice?

Lid the sucker in YK & I could make the rounder. If the road was closed for several days due to weather, we could get fuel from the mine or at Lockhart Lake Camp. Ironically, I just got the final bill in Oct. I was cautious about fueling @ Lockhart, thank god I was...it was $1.769/liter! That converts to CDN$6.696/US Gallon!

    Ruthless and TripleSix Thank this.

Hadn't heard that Snap was closing. There were rumblings last season that Snap may have run it's course. Apparently they were having difficulty keeping up the dewatering & there was also water contamination claims. Snap isn't a traditional diamond "pipe" formation, but more of a "fissure/flow" making harvesting more complicated & costly.

Yup, I never wanted to put fuel on @ Lockhart and the four times I played safe and took on 100 liters I would have made it. But if I wouldn't have, I'm sure 1 tow bill would have been more than all that high priced fuel.
Oh yeah & I didn't want to be that guy who ran out of fuel on the Ingrham Trail!
The mine actually charged the same price as YK Petro-Pass, & the times I got fuel from them, I would NOT have made it back to YK.

Once upon a time, when I lived in Yellowknife before the bridge at Fort Providence was built, traffic across the Mackenzie would stop for two to three weeks in the spring as the ice broke up and before they could put the ferry in. Any goods destined for Yellowknife (or anywhere north of the Mackenzie), would either have to wait, or in the case of perishables, get a heli-lift across the river. The cost of groceries would sky-rocket. Capitalism... yeah!
