Route bid. Or Bidding route description

    Hello all as the title says can someone pls tell me what is the meaning of that term. Or link for any description I can read about it.
    I tried to Google and read some info online but the search come down to forums thread of ppl talking about it without specification I mean you need to know what is it to understand what they talking about.
    Any link or description would be appreciated

    Your company will have drivers bid on routes like once or twice a year (usually) based on seniority (length of time spent at company). At my place about a month before a bid there is a folder with all the routes so you can get an idea of what route you might want. They call you at a certain time on a certain day you tell them what route you want and they say yes or no if another driver didn't already bid it or has more seniority than you. Then they call the guy who is one less than you in seniority and so forth

    Get a good one that forms from scrub runs into something good where you did all the grunt work and you'll find out real quick what it means.
    Someone with seniority sees some low guy with a cake run and says...
    "I'll have that, thank you"..

    Yeah, we're bidding right now and I'm going to get bumped from my day shift gravy train. I'm ready to go back to nights though. Too many dummies out when the sun comes up.

    I will miss the 70 mph truck though.
