Garmin, Trucker path and Hammer all give routes that go through the heart of Dallas instead of using 635 and 20 to go around that congested downtown Dallas area. Everytime I try to force the issue by creating waypoints along the route I want the gps systems try to get me off 635 ASAP.

    Is 635 truck restricted?

I always went through town unless traffic was completely stopped.

We’ve went though downtown Dallas twice in the last few weeks and it was a parking lot, the bypass would have been faster and easier

I go around the west side usaully,35 W to 820,on to 20 a few miles then 287 south to 45.
Sometimes I'll take the 35 W express lane if traffic is heavy on 35.
35 W at the 820 exit is usaully slow, but doesn't take long to get through.

The express lane on 35 E is not always open,it changes from northbound flow to southbound flow at different times.
There's no hazmat streets on both sides, only a few streets you can use.

I'm not sure about the 635,never been on that one.
With Hammer I just take the route I want if it's different than what's displaying,it changes over to the road I choose and re-calculates.
This trip south I deliver in Louisiana so I get to avoid DFW.Im in Shreveport, will go down to 10 and then in to Houston.

20 E was very slow the last few trips due to construction before the 287 S exit.
I went through at rush hour though and was in slow traffic for about an hour.

According to my atlas 635 is a truck route, you don't have to follow your GPS, look at your atlas and find the best route. Your Truckers Atlas has a ton of useful information that you can find out in seconds.
