My dad worked for RUAN for 20 some odd years. Retired from them. They treated him fairly O.K. BUT HE WORKED IN THE SHOP!!!
I was around those stripped down weak cheap trucks those guys ran. And the DIDNT pay all that well. Not even for a shop guy. But when you live in podunk Iowa and there really isn't much else, you work where you can.
After he left he went to a different place that was just getting started. Now he's been there for about 17 years. If you mention RUAN to him he just chuckles and says "oh those jokers"
You shoulda asked before you jumped ship.
Usually, the grass is not greener when you get to the other side. But I guess you found that out.

Ruan doesn't pay anything worth a darn.
The job you left must have paid minimum wage if you
Thought that was a high paying job.

yeah, but they are paying for stops.

my Ryder job, we got paid a salary, no matter how many stops. Ruan had a flatbed job near me, no mention of stop pay. so it goes by the account.

then too, all those driver-lease companies frown on time off, my job, wanted a 2 week notice i wanted a night off. they REALLY got onto your case if you called in sick.

i actually said one time, "i'll call in sick NOW, for the flu I WILL HAVE in 2 weeks".

boss was beside himself that day.

I worked for Ruan for a few years when the company I drove for decided to do away with its private fleet and Ruan took over delivery logistics. They kept the pay scale we already had so no change there, but we went through 3 terminal managers in less than six months. Things degraded from there, and I moved on. Now that terminal is a revolving door and they're constantly flooding Craigslist with job posts. It's funny to watch the sign on bonus creep up until they get a bite. Then when the next driver quits they start at 0 and bump it up until they get another one.

Yeah, the cryo guys clean up. I was on a flatbed account, so not as glamorous. You're right though, they never lied to me. There were plenty of times I didn't like what I was hearing, but no one misled me.

PS. I still wear my MegaSafe hat when I mow the lawn.

Are you absolutely sure your old company won’t take you back? Assuming you left on good terms, and performed well, might be your best shot. Let them know your patient, and will wait a reasonable time for an opening.

Calling the HQ of any company, is almost never a good idea, makes your terminal management look bad, and it puts a troublemaker target on your back, that won’t be quickly forgotten.
You need to get the hell out of there.

I’m certain that the promises you remember, were not in writing. They never are. Stick it out for now, but start a very active job search.

When you get an interview DO NOT BADMOUTH RUAN!!! No one wants to hear or hire a complainer. No matter how friendly the interviewer is, don’t volunteer anything. “Ruan was great”, “but I need to get better miles on a consistent basis”. Keep it simple, and ask for a road test. Good to show a sincere interest, but don’t be a pest with too many anxious phone calls.

I’m sorry if this sounds harsh. Better to hear it here, than at a potential employer.
Stay positive, look like a winner.

This too shall pass, and welcome to the School of Hard Knocks. I am proudly a 3rd generation member.

Ruan is NOT the only game in town.
    Best of Luck!
