I'm so glad my company has an in house body and paint guy... And he is GOOD. Most of our small things such as what the OP descibe get handled in house and never see insurance. I think we have even handled repairs to other companies equipment in house a time or 2... If they were local to us.

When you hit something with the truck it is an accident. When it happens you fill an accident report. Will it made you feel better if they called it “Driver hit a tree and made a hole in the trailer report”
People are so sensitive these days. Grow some balls. -

The way I see it is if theres tickets and police reports issued, then by all means the driver is open to having to fill out company paperwork. Otherwise, they can take their 'accident' report and stick it. Same with you and your post. -
