NOW MY FRIEND I DID NOT MEAN TO OFFEND YOU OR ANYOE ELSE , you have the right to disagree with me anytime you choose but to think that we need more rules and regulation is just plain wrong we are all suppose to be adults not kids,

true this is a nation of laws and most are put in place out of need those laws i have no problem with but this nation is also governed by the people for the people and laws were never intended for the soul purpose of raising money for the goverment because they spent to much in perticular free interprise such as the trucking business which is in fact a big part of free interprise we don not belong in this business for the soul purpose of funding the goverment or the state for that matter and what i said about you being a school graduate simply means you lack the expeirence to understans whats going on, and you really need to find out for yourself whats going on before you try to critisise in perticular these new regulations they are in fact not for safty there are being put in place to raise money for the goverment who in fact is out of control and as always we pay the price if you can't understand that you will before it is done and you can be sure this is just a start , next will be the state and we as truckers will foot the bill for all of it .

i have made several post on this forum and you will not find one where i bad mouthed a perticular driver encluding you , you can believe as you will and i will never try to convince you to do otherwise i simply do not have that right and i wont even try.

if you took offense at what i said im sorry that was not my intention.

have a good ride anyway. s:biggrin_25514:outhernpride

You can read other posts on this forum and find many storys of drivers caught over weight, out of hours, bad brakes, on and on. When anyone can tell me how this is right I will understand your point of view. CSA2010 will remove the habitual law breakers. I don't like more regulations either but, if a driver/carrier will not follow the law what should be done?

Just like the cdl was supposed to remove the bad drivers all it is is a way for them to have more control over us and get more money, as far as overweight i guess you never loaded somewhere were there was'nt a scale and could'nt check your wheight, all you guys that think more regs are good need to wake up and see the light all there doing is trying to control the industry to there likeing and it's working because to many think all this bs is for the better.

How will CSA2010 get more money from you? I have loaded before with out a scale. What I don't do is cross a Coop's scale untill I know what it weighs. If you do you get what you got coming to ya. As for trying to control the industry to their liking. They are going to enforce the law and if you can't or won't you will become disqualified or a company will no longer keep you employed due to points. All of you just want to break the laws YOU don't like. What if everyone broke the laws they didn't like?

I've never seen any official research, but I'd be willing to bet that a BIG percentage of the shoddy equipment runners and rulebreakers are also the CHEAP freight haulers. My guess, and it is nothing more than that, is that if the CSA2010 eliminates some of them it will help rates. For about a month or 2, and then the stupid companies will start cutting those rates in hopes of getting more business away fro their competitors!

The days of "outlaw" trucking are done, finis, poof. If you wish to continue such operations, have at it. You'll be done a whole lot sooner than those who learn to adapt. I don't like a lot of the CSA 2010 rules any better than any one else, but I also understand neither I nor anyone else is going to be able to do anything about it. It's here, so my job is to understand how I fit into this picture from here on in.

Now, IF (biggest two letter word in the world) these rules do what many are predicting, putting anywhere from 200-250,000 drivers out of the business, those of us who are left may have some bargaining power for once. IF we were getting the freight rate I was told was needed to make a profit 25 years ago, the equivalent of the price of a gallon of fuel, I wouldn't mind running perfectly legal. At $3.00/mi. I'd take in about $7,200 a week while spending about $1200 for fuel. I'd run it legal and laugh all the way to the bank.

The big IF depends on people like you southernpride. Shippers have always known that no matter how long they hold us at the dock, or what else gets screwed up that's completely out of our control, we'll lie on our log books and go sleepless to get the freight delivered. I've done it, more than I like to remember. No more. Once shippers and receivers realize they have a financial stake in us running it legal, their practices MAY change. It did for a while after the new HOS rules came to life, until they figured out nothing had really changed, that we still lie our way through no matter what the rules may say.

Very well said. My thinking on EOBR's: If CSA2010 won't halt the law breakers that EOBR will.
