    Point #1 ~ They picked salary so they could have a consistent pay every week instead of having to worry about getting enough miles to get a decent pay. If I heard right, they chose this option, it wasn't forced on them.


    Point #2 ~ If they are on salary, they should be geting the NYC & Canada pay...tarps also. On the other hand I don't think they should get detention. I see it as, they are getting a certain salary when they are detained at a shipper or receiver. If we are detained, we don't get anything but detention....which still isn't the same as what we'd be getting if we were driving.

    Point #3 ~ I don't know exactly how much GP freight is going on flats now, but I do know that there is some.

    Point #4 ~ The Gold Zone was/is a pay increase if vans travel into a certain area on the east coast. You can find the map of it on the company website. I'm not positive if it was for all vans, or just the NE Van Fleet. I believe it came about last summer...could have been the summer before....I can't remember. Either way, it was an extra .04 per mile if you were in this zone......really kind of sucked for the flats that were going to North East on a regular basis.

    Gold zone is just for NE region drivers. Once again national guys take it in the tailpipe.

    Thanks for clearing up gold zone for me, never heard about that or just wasn't paying that much attention.

    I looked at it much closer and only seems to be available to vans in the NorthEast reagional fleet. I haven't been able able to find out more in our DRG. Looks to me like a smoke screen to show availble pay increases to our NorthEast division when instead it is the national drivers who are delivering in this area. I really would like to have seen the restrictions or obsticles that are in place for this .04 per mile.

    I agree that this would have been a slap in the face to the Great Lakes Flatbed Division that operates inside the "Gold Zone".

    Going back to point #1 An honors grade 1 National Van driver earns $1410.00 bi weekly. An Honors Grade 1 National Flat driver earns $1600.00 bi weekly. I am suggesting that the Honors Flat driver should have also received the pay increase in proportion.

    Even though I am glad the flatbed division received a pay raise it still looks like my candy bar statement still stands.

    Just finished reading this post, thought I'd put my .02 worth.

    I am a HP Flatbed Driver, and no, we did not receive a pay increase. The mileage increase was .01 cpm in all pay bands and yes, tarp pay did go up as well. Additionally, I am working to get a pay discrepancy fixed as I am being the Van rate which $200 less per check. I keep getting told I will be back paid, but we'll see.

    As for the GP loads, I'd say almost half my loads are GP. I don't know if that's just my luck or what, but I pull a lot of GP stuff.

    Quick and to the point however only flatbed received the mileage increase. My rant suggests that all should have received an increase not just 1 division, and that increase should have also been given in proportion to Honors drivers.

    Thanks (you know who) for reminding me about the rolls of paper that flat bedders haul. which will bring me to my next question. Do flatbedders work in wal-mart too? I don't think so and yet we van drivers just get more praise except this time it wasn't even Rick.

    Very curious to see if your pay gets corrected Dr.

    I understand your suggestion on all divisions receiving a raise, but are you linking that raise to the GP account? I don't really think this was based specifically on that account alone. I think it's more of an effort to attract new, and retain current, flat drivers due to an increase of freight; not just to reward for the GP work.

    I am interested to see how this pay thing turns out as well. If it is not resolved by next pay period I already have plans to move on. I can tolerate being jerked around on home time here and there (which is happening more and more it seems), but I refuse to continue to work for less that what is owed to me. If it was an office workers pay, it would have been fixed immediately.

    I don't know for sure but i think they had to bump up the flat bed pay because they were losing guys to the reefer division. I know a couple of flatbedders that jumped ship when they raised the reefer pay equal to flat bed. The tarp pay increase was long overdue as was the Canada pay. Now when I tarp a load it is actually worth doing time wise. There are some loads that I figure I made about $3 an hour after I got done.

    How 'bout how the person the created OptiStop should be taken outside and beat with a hose. Along with the ones that decided to implement it.
