My dispatcher knows I'll go to the bat for him. If I can make it look good on paper, I'll do it.

I ran to Elkridge, MD from El Paso starting Friday, dropped at 8am Monday morning, reloaded in Langhorne, PA and dropped it in the yard this afternoon. With some creative writing I made it to El Paso with 0 left on my 70.

My first DM at FFE was a former safety manager who would, shall we say, make some interesting alterations to my People-net clock.
Loved that guy, if there was a 2,000 mile load coming across the board, he'd snag it for me and "make sure I had the hours to run it."

Real good feeling knowing that someone can say "This dude can get it done."
I'm ugly as all ####, so work ethic is the only thing I have to fall back on, lol! :biggrin_255:

EDIT- but hey, you know me! I'm just a wrench, a simple pos tool to be thrown away at a dispatchers disposal *wink wink*

Want to bring about some major HOS rules changes quickly? run your eLogs 100% legal and to the letter. That is to say, if you're into your 10, then it's time to move your truck to a dock and check in @ 03:00, go back on duty (as you're supposed to), break your 10, and start another break. Force the consignee/shipper to tow your truck or force the carrier to allow liberal use of "line 5" to leave a facility with no available drive time to drive an hour to a safe location. Begin missing pre-plans right and left that you used to make because you stayed "in the sleeper" while you actually performed work-related duties for the carrier. Stop this behavior industry-wide and you will see drastic changes in a few weeks. Let them try and fire you for running your logs legal.

Working for a reefer carrier as I do, us drivers can create some serious pain for the company if we decided to "run 100% legal" on eLogs. It's the next "strike" that is actually workable in terms of shedding light on how the HOS rules can cause SERIOUS disruptions of driving production if ran by all drivers exactly like they are currently set up.

Well your obviously going to run it because you could have refused it if you wanted to. Pro tip is a pack of baby wipes. Don't keep them on the floor or they'll get warm. Keep em stored high and hopefully they are a little cool when you use one. When you feel the sleepy eyes grab one and wipe your face neck and hands real good. Might have to do it a few times, but this has always perked me up. I know you are against the energy drinks but there is an off brand 5 hour energy shot with caffeine and b vitamins. I use those in an emergency over night. More often then not though, I just refuse the load. Good luck and be safe op.

sometimes if you have to catch a quick nap. when your real tired but need to get somewhere, it helps to drink a some caffeine just before you lay down, and then set a alarm. it takes a little while for the caffeine to kick in, so if your only taking a 30 min nap or so it will be kicking in about the time you're alarm goes off. if im out of sync the hardest time for me is the last 2 hours before sun rise and i get up easily feeling quite refreshed if i get up with the sun. so if i can spare 2 hours ill sleep the 2 hours before sun rise. witch really i try avoiding being on the road at the last 2 hours before sun rise as much as possible anyway.
