there is no doubt you are a kevin Rutherford listener, lol
a cat with a 13 and 3.55 rears will give you 62 to 63 at 1300 rpm. kris , come off that 65 to about 60 to 61 and you will bank more money, which is what it is all about, and there wont be an iota of arrival time difference, just keep the left door shut

Yes im a KR listener, but i don't totally agree with going less then 65. Since i stay out a lot of week-ends, i rairly reset and thus my 70 is a major concern. over 60 hours (driving time not including, pretrip fuel, load/unload) going 65 instead of 60 is 300 miles. At my revenue, 300 more miles per 8 days is worth a little sacrifice in fuel. fuel use goes up exponentially though and thus 70 is not worth it. Since im always maxing out my 70, more availible drive time does mean more money and im not limited by timing on loads since my week-end load is pretty flexible.blairandgretchen Thanks this.

My W900 cat c15 13speed 325 rears gets better fuel economy at 70 at 1450rpms than at 60mph 1250 and if I drop a gear to get the RPMs lower than 1450 I must drive 50mph.

I think you told me a ways back, but what's your HP Bayou? That would be my ideal set up if it were around 475-550. I don't think a more aerodynamic model is going to help too much with mpg, so I want to go for comfort and reliability. Kind of thinking between W9 and 379.

I just put a 6pack of injectors in mine and I'm set at 475/1850 right now I'm getting 5.71 my first two weeks out with the new injectors my 90 day is 5.5

I got to tell ya richter, you got some more learning to do. you seem to be stuck in a mileage mentality, the old drive faster and I make more miles , thus I make more money mentality.
your revenue avg per mile must be low to have to max out hours each week.
the secret to life is more revenue for less miles. the thinking of I get 300 more miles each week is a trap for low per mile owners.
I haven't recapped in 5 weeks now , been avg over 4 grand a week on less than 2000 miles loaded and empty miles.
I drive on avg 60 to 61.
what you would save from 65 to 60 would eliminate you having to drive that 300 miles a week .
but telling you that will fall on deaf ears.281ric, blairandgretchen and SheepDog Thank this. -
you must have some problems with that truck, I have just did a monthly avg of 7.1 with a c15 13 speed 3.55 rears that's run 62 at 1300 which is where it runs.
you wouldn't have to drop a gear to get the rpms lower, just lift that foot and drop back to 1300, that's a sweet spot for a c15.
if ya had to fortitude to drive like that long enough to get a accurate reading you would be surprised, you would be even more surprised if ya drove 57 in 12th, I can get 8 mpg driving like that.
not that's without any idle time, my apu has paid for itself without a doubt.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
12th gear at 1300rpms is 54mph that's just to slow for me....I can do 64 but under that I just can't do it.
My truck on the dyno after injectors made 419hp and was told that's really good numbers -
I have a 99 - 379 flat top with a 3406e 475hp 10 speed and 24.5 tall rubber and 3.90 rears and get 6.5 I run 60-63 most times. Can run 56 -58 and get 7 or 70 and get 5.5
i haul mostly od and close to 75 - 80 k most of the time.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I call BS!!! what does it get in 12th at 1450 rpms? if you drop a gear rpms go up, not down.
What are you using to measure mpg. Do you have a 90 day history cruising at 70 and another 90 @60? (any not crossing into cold months.)
