A nor'easter is pretty much automatic shut down. I'd consider a hotel. Also if you stay in the truck and your exhaust comes out under the truck, make sure to clear the snow if you start getting a ton of it, because exhaust can back up and kill you.

Jan 18th give or take a day that year. I remember that storm. I was small child but in our school it was a interesting snow day. We dug into a hill and the 6 foot drift covered some of us. That became a problem right quick as they say. So we have at it getting them out pronto.

I could be wrong on the date, but it's gotta be close.

Wolcott? How is it doing these days? Did they buy the farm to park 2 more miles worth of trucks?

Boy how ironic is THAT, I wonder if the donner party went thru that way cuz they liked that the pass shared the same name as their leader? Weird, either way.

No. They had a oppertunity to be stubbon and go against advice of more experienced Trail People and try to cross the pass in the face of winter. All hot to trot to get down to the promised land.

Well most of them died up there.

They had a beautiful set up before going over the pass near Reno and all they had to do is wait a few months and all of them probably would have taken the trip onwards over in the springtime and live forever. That pass would have been called something else.
