Looks like Elk Mountain area is going to remain under "relatively light" winds for the next week or so once we can get past this weekend ...
I recommend bookmarking this for those who travel I-80 regularly. Recommend laptop or desktop browser with mouse-over capability.

    Yes.

ALWAYS stop in Reno before you get onto Donner. Once you get past reno, you just committed yourself to Donner for better or worst weather wise.

Promise me and everyone here that you will always stop in Reno, get out of truck and double check the weather pending for Donner from three sources before carefully deciding if you are going or not.

    Promise?

I'm not about to just waltz up one of the most notorious mountains in America (if not the world) in the tail end of winter

Had a 5000lb load of foam boards in a box from SLC to Denver. Politely told dispatch where to stick their routing down 80. 15 to 6 to 70 to Denver.

Iowa 80 is definitely one of the better truck stops I've stayed at.

Crowded with a crap ton of 4 wheelers and steering wheel holders tho but it's clean and got a bunch of shiny things to look at
