A mountian is a mountian. I was more concerned about the weather up top haha
In the op I made I really just wanted to know if there where any other obstacles in my pathbut I think they have all been covered or experienced first hand haha

Just looked on truckers path. I'm staying here.... looks like I might be able to get a spot somewhere a little bit down the road but my gut tells me stay.
austinmike Thanks this. -
I'm not too familiar with California other than I-80 Reno<>Sacramento and I-5 and CA-99 all up and down, and the SoCal area. Over in the Bay area, I can't offer much help other then to say that's a long ride from near Truckee to Los Gatos. The scales east of Sacramento will probably be closed as early as you'll be going through.
I assume you'll pass right by the Sacramento 49'r (Pilot branded). Could pull into the fuel island and run in and grab a coffee and snack to get you through the remainder of the trip just so you could say you've been there. It's not much, but it is one of the last of the truly "old-school" truck stops still in full operation in the USA, with no significant remodel. -
I'm 220 miles from my drop. So 31/2ish hours so as long as I don't hit traffic I should be good -
Where is your reload? If you are coming back, they have pretty good food and desserts and more than a few pretty young waitresses on and off. They also sell beer in the restaurant but there's no bar [that I'm aware of]
There is a thread I started last year sometime on The Forty-Niner ...

Others could probably chime in with good location options in the area between Sacramento and the Bay Area that are good for resets. You could do worse then the Forty-Niner but you could do better. All the name-brand truck stops exist down around the Stockton/Lodi area.
Also be aware of the Fairfield, CA super-coops on EB I-80 if you pass through that way. And not far from there is a Budweiser brewery and tasting room and Jelly Belly. You'll see a dirt turnout for trucks near the brewery.Last edited: Mar 14, 2017

Idk. It's all up in the air till it isn't haha

Rush hour in the Bay Area starts early. Be prepared for heavy traffic on your way to your stop.

I always call the day before I deliver and ask what's next. You have the advantage of 3 hrs, so I would get on the horn when you start with your dispatcher and ask which direction to head, and if he says he's waiting to hear from California... They don't get in until around 6am PDT.
