Whatever you say...I've only hauled 3 vehicles in my time as a driver. They were three 1 ton trucks on a step deck.
I was simply stating what those 3 guys told me (laid off from Allied)
BTW...I've had to do most of those things when hauling the John Deere stuff (folding mirrors, looking for the machines, checking serial numbers, letting air out of tires so they wouldn't be too tall,, climbing in the very hot cabs of those machines...I loaded them myself 90% of the time)...and have you ever driven a 12 foot wide excavator onto an 8 foot wide trailer? I have...hundreds of times.
Dead batteries...been there, done that too.
Like I said, some of us understand better than others. And orientation at TMC (or anywhere else) is not quite the same as what goes on in the real world. -
How long have you been hauling cars???,..........Like I have said the longer yous do it the lees time finding and loading/unloading will take,....If you stick with it you will get to the point where you'll make it look easy,......Don't be afraid to watch the other guys at the auction,.....See what there doing,..Don't be afraid to ask questions,..Most of the guys I know are happy to help someone out,....And remember everybody does things a little differently,...You'll figure out what works for you,......

I understand what you are saying. I know driving a flat is similar. I guess that I have been a little bothered with folks not understanding. Especially those that drive vans. I feel sorry for them too. I wouldn't want to be sitting for days. The longest I have ever stayed at a truck stop is 10 hours, 15 minutes.

May I ask why you don't have the top deck loaded and chain before loading the bottom deck????,............. -
I have been hauling cars about a month, I know, not very long. There must be a faster way. I try and get a ride to find the cars. Then I drive to the guard shack and give them the gate pass, after noting scratches, dents, etc on the vehicle. Then I drive onto the truck, and secure the vehicle. I need to watch the other guys and see how they do it. I am always open to learning. Walleye, you want a laugh, I will give you one. I know you will find this hard to believe, but I swear it is true. I was unloading at the JAX port, and it was after hours. I was so tired, and it was so hot that I was having a very hard time. Not to mention that I am brand new, and the folks wanted to go home. I am not kidding you, they unloaded the top cars with a forklift! I am going to ask for this service in the future!!!

Sometimes I may have three or more stops. I put the SUVs up top, but I do not always get the vehicles in the order I want to load them. And yes, I will freely admit that I am new and dumb.

After a few more months you'll probably find that you'll be a whole bunch quicker!!!,......
I used to see a good friend of mine at the same auction a-lot,...We would shuttle each other to our cars,....If there is room on the loading pad I would try to stage all of my cars in the order that I would load them,....Some auctions have a customer service shuttle for finding cars,..That makes things go much faster,...One time I pulled and loaded a 9 car load in just over an hour,........That only happened once,...But it can be done!!!
My friend with the 7 car hauler could load and chain in about 25 minutes with the 7 cars sitting at the truck,...It will come to you in time,.....photolurp2 Thanks this. -
You'll learn to pull and load in the order you want them to come off the truck,...Sometimes loading out of order can't be helped,..But try to minimize that,.....I used to draw out a "picture" of the load before hand too help see in my head how the load should go together,....Give it time,..Your new at all of this,........photolurp2 Thanks this.

I hope so. That sounds amazing. I guess I need time, perhaps it is on my side. You have been very encouraging.
