Yesterday during the race they were touting they're latest product, engine / fuel system cleaner. You pour this stuff in the fuel and the crank case.
One of you guys go first, lemme know how it turns out, snowwy Thanks this. -
I honestly believe that its hit or miss. Some engines it may help others nothing.
My philosophy is whatever oil you use on a new engine you should stay with it. And screw what they say about 50k oil intervals, 12-15k, oil is a lot cheaper than 100+ hr shop labor when something lets go -
Do you have the full gauge package on your truck?
-
Nothing wrong with 50k service intervals, so long as you don't intend to run the vehicle longer than the warranty.Oldironfan Thanks this.

I personally wouldn't run the older pre epa trucks that long. Even the mack E7 with 2 big oil filters and a spinner filter

What running lean means is there is not enough fuel being injected into the cylinder for the amount of air being cycled through the engine. Running lean can cause high temps which lead to a hole in the piston.
Common causes are injector tips not flowing properly, not enough supply from fuel rail or air in the fuel. With the electronic engines it is possible to receive a lean code from an exhaust leak up stream. Basically just because you get a lean code doesn't mean your actually running lean. You could have other issues triggering the code. It pays not to have a parts changer spending your money here.Tug Toy, OLDSKOOLERnWV, haycarter and 2 others Thank this. -
Yup a "hot spot" will start and slowly blow a hole threw herTug Toy Thanks this.

I think it's all the more they offered 18 of them. I need to fix a bunch of them sometime though.
