Hey guys hope you are safe out there....I wanted to ask if its ok to run my 60 series detroit engine with no crank pulley?
I recently installed electric fans so basically no need for any belts.
I have a new vibratech damper and pittsburg power balancer installed recently.
I know its a silly thing to ask but i want your thoughts since i have seen a aluminum crank pulley for 60 series.. so if you can run a lighter crank pulley then why then no pulley at all??
I do notice that the 60 series crank pulley has dimples in the back part...does this mean its balanced to the engine?
Thanks for any replys

You need the balancer. What area do you run? I could see electric fans working in some situations, but not most.
Did you do any research on the volume of air moved by a traditional fan clutch setup?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I run mostly mid west to east and back .... i know its not summer yet and well the 4 fans i have on right now put out 10k in cfm total ... Most of the time i dont use them since the engine temp stays under 180f .... So far ive run the engine up about 190 and with just 2 fan temps will lower down to 175f ... this was at idle. I havnt gone up any steep grades yet.Rideandrepair and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
How has your A/C high pressure been affected?Bean Jr. and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Yea i got a vibratech damper and pittsburg power balancers on there right now and with no crank pulley the engine is pulling alot better and seeing a bit more mpgs
Well usually i turn on the ac on idle then back on when cruising but ive had it on on idle with just the 2 fans up top the ac blows pretty cold ... mind you they are 16inch fans... i posted on here with pics to show.... search for electric fansRideandrepair and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
Impressive

Update guys i ended up putting the crank pulley back on... i wasnt too confident with the nuts i used for spacers.. but ill probably put that aluminum pulley from fitzgerald later on....i weighed the crank pulley at 16lbs and i saw some mpgs increase in just 600 miles without it on.
