One of the biggest failures is that these drivers don't get out of company driver mentality and into business mentality...you have to run it like a business from day 1..you can't just act like a driver thats its..you have so much more to be attentive to...if you come in with a business approach..you should do fine...you will have ups & downs but that's the nature of it...

That's how we're looking at it. We own a small business in retail now. Since Al Gore invented the internet (joke) and Amazon room over, retail is getting harder. We're looking to take our current business skills and expierence and apply them to transport. I've read and researched and read some more.... It's seems that if the miles are there, and if the lease is as straight forward as it seems, then anyone with realistic settlement expectations should be able to make it in the program.

I'm glad you guys are here, you've made my researching easier.

I was there back in August. Park on the street to check in. You can park over night on the street. The truck entrance is actually on Gannet St. There is descent little Mexican food restaurant across the street from the gate. I don't remember how long it took, but I do remember having time to go get food while from the restaurant while being unloaded. Backing into the dock wasn't that bad. Gets kinda of crowded though.

I came in off of Hwy91 to I-5 North. Be prepared for construction in the area of the exit for Valley View. Follow the detour. Its marked and straight forward. From I-5 North, exit Valley Veiw, turn right at light (Firestone Blvd) Turn left at Trojan Way (second left?) Turn left on Alondra Blvd. Follow to Valley View, turn right. Then left on Gannet St.

Well, time to go coast again. Previous load was VA to CA. Now it's time go from CA to TN to GA for 2630 dispatched miles. Good way to start off the new pay rate.

Anyone know what I can expect at Sysco in Knoxville and Whole Foods in Braselton?

I got eyes on a truck that had one of the new inverters installed..

    Tundra Product

Tundra brand inverter 1500w also installed with the remote control in the sleeper to monitor battery level and to be able to turn the inverter on and off. Installed on the passenger side behind the passenger seat just like the ones from the Thermo King.

Driver said it runs his cooking utensil just fine electric skillet microwave things like that...

Sounds great. 1500w is all I've ever used, always powered any need I had. The battery monitoring with remote sounds handy, never had one with that.

As soon as I pulled up to make the left onto Gannet I realized...I've been here before. It was one of my first few loads, and it was part of a nightmare 3 dropper. One of those being the DOWNTOWN Los Angeles blind back off a one way, the one where the receiver comes out to direct you with cars all around you. Just going around the block was enough to give me anxiety.

Probably why I forgot about it, because I tried to suppress the memory of that whole day.....
