Good call. A couple of Sundays ago I had red tagged a trailer at Ft Worth yard for brakes and tires. It was only one tire but it wad so bad that it had a 1 foot section the width of the tire was exposed steel belts. The trailer was empty and plenty of other empties. So I just put a red tag on it and it would be fixed the next day. Woke the next day and the trailer was gone. It wasn't at the shop across the street. Someone hooked up to it and left with it anyway. That didn't surprise me one bit.
So final tally is 4 New Tires, A fresh DOT, A new Brake chamber, a new air bag, and a partridge in a pear tree.
I mean honestly, the load is on the verge of late, mainly because I'm not going faster than 64 (other than on the two lanes because I dont wanna be THAT guy). Two days to go 1171 miles, not impossible. Gotta be there at 0500, showing arivial is probably 2200 at the END of the clock, so I can take another nap and be fine. Though driving delays can screw me pretty good.
So update on the trailer.... Ended up needing a swap... So I pull into tucumcari and I do a walk around on the trailer and notice two of the brand new tires are flat... I put two and two together and realized that's why the airlines from the autoair system on that particular hub were extremely loose is one of the previous drivers basically disconnected the system because it was losing air there. and the system wasn't providing air in the first place I checked the valve and it was on but no air was really coming through the system. when they replaced the tires they reconnected the air system and it leaked the air out as I drove. So I pull out my handy dandy tire inflator kit and the plan was to put enough air in the tires that it's somewhat safe and take it over to loves. Best laid plans of mice and men as they say as while I'm inflating the inner tire a blister appears on the sidewall rapidly spreads..*boom*. Six more hours of shop time...replaced one of the tires that blew out and check the other one to make sure it was still okay..
Update to the update... Driver I swapped with just called Said the airbag that just got replaced yesterday apparently blew out and shrapnel from it took out the airbag on the other side... Then shrapnel from it apparently punctuated One of the tires... So if you ever see trailer 7116 pop up on dispatch...run. someone put a hex on it.
####....that's some bad luck for sure. Keep it away from the Fort Worth yard. Take to Sapulpa instead.
Heads up if your are running I-70 west of Denver...... Troopers in Crackdown Mode on Interstate for the Rest of the Month
Empty in the Bay Area now I have a load picking up headed to Harrisburg Pennsylvania. And no I will not share my ways on how I’m getting these loads. I know nothing!
