If I ever had the choice heading to California in winter, I take I70W just to Denver then turn left on I25S and go down the front range to connect with I40W. It's a few more miles but keeps me from climbing that wee hill on the other side of Denver and dealing with road closures, chaining, and all that. But I do miss the fun of skating down the other side, of course...

Well, I finally made it to Tulsa to start orientation at JCT tommorrow morning. I hope I made the right decision. By reading all the posts on here and talking with everyone, I feel this will be a great company. I hope to meet all the guys on here one day.

Best of luck to you. Word of advice: read EVERYTHING and get the info handy for future reference. It may save you headaches down the road and avoid the "no one told me that" scenario.

Well, made it to Wally world here in Terrell, but not after some aggravation. Swapped loads with a driver in Laramie Saturday afternoon. My next leg was approximately 1/4 mile to the Petro . Why? Because the sorry S.O.B. I swapped with doesn't know how to look at his trailer tires.

3 tires were in D.O.T violation. A 4th had a bad enough air leak that it triggered the light on the auto inflation system to come on....and stay on. Replaced the three and patched the 4th. It only took 6 hours. Lol

When dispatch asked the driver about the tires, he replied, "That's B.S. I do my pre-trips and there was nothing wrong with those tires." According to dispatch, he was very adamant about the D.O.T legality of the trailer.

Now I'm not going to say that this driver is a liar, but with 5 or 6 flat spots on each tire and a chunk the size of my hand missing of the tread, he must have slammed on the brakes to the point of locking then up and traveled some nasty roads from Rock Springs to Laramie that day.....after he determined there was nothing wrong with them that morning. I'm just sayin.....

Anyway, the driver then proceeded to call me a liar and I was trying to get him terminated. That's when dispatched did two things: 1. Offer to put him in touch with me to give him more details (which I would have been more than happy to do). 2. Send him the pictures the shop took and sent to JCT Breakdown to get approval. They reminded him that breakdown doesn't authorize frivolous repairs. He got quiet after that.

Bottom line.....do yourself a favor and other drivers a courtesy and always make sure your trailer is D.O.T legal at all times. We are supposed to be professionals.....let's act like it.

Why it is so hard to do things the right way the first time, every time, would be a wonderful grad school psych study.

Why it is so hard to do things the right way the first time, every time :biggrin_25514: Today it is too EASY to pass everything that's wrong off on the NEXT PERSON and it seems like that's the attitude most grow up with.

I have to say I'm not fond of cold storage facilities because they take FOREVER, but I unloaded at Preferred Frozen Foods in La Porte, TX this morning and was unloaded in 15 minutes. Took another 30 to get paperwork, but still impressive turn around. That and there is PLENTY of OPA.

Well. I get to recover a truck from the Freightliner shop in Las Vegas and take that back to Sapulpa. Then get me another truck because mine is going to take to long to fix. They just got into the shop an hour ago. So, they are just starting to look into what is wrong with the motor. I really hope the last person in this truck that I am picking up was not a smoker. Gonna get me a can of Lysol and Febreeze and spray down the whole truck before I go any where with it.
