I don't believe in signs, but if I did, the following account could sure be taken as sign that it is ok for me to go to Sapulpa.

I posted a couple of days or so ago about not wanting to get out of my comfort zone. Last night, I was even discussing the same thing in a private message with someone. I woke up this morning and began reading through the latest edition of the Driver's Connection magazine. I always enjoy the editorial from Megan Hicks. Her editorial in this month's magazine was talking about getting out out your comfort zone but so many people (not just drivers, but people, in general) prefer to sleep with the devil they know instead of the devil they don't know.

Yep, that's me. There are so many things I don't like about the company I work for, but I'm still here, after 8 1/2 years and trying for 10 consecutive years with one employer. That's the devil I know.

If I believed in signs, that one would certainly be telling me something.

I gotta talk to Uncle Clyde and get his thoughts on signs. :mooh:

Delivered both drops in ABQ yesterday. Man, was that long day. Drove overnight from Amarillo to ABQ for the two stops. The first stop went quick. Drove 8 miles down the road to the second stop. Boy, did they take forever. Had just enough time on my 14 to drive to the Flying J for a washout and park. That truck wash there was slower than a streakin beacon. Took three hours to get through the line. Seemed like every truck in ABQ was there to get a truck wash. I was the only washout in the line.

Finally got parked and went to sleep at 3pm. Slept for 15 hours straight. Woke up to rush to the latrine. Watched a movie. Lucy. It sucked. Get a preplan to go to Amarillo to pick up another two stopper (third one in a row) to Phoenix then Riverside. Pickup window is 0502 02/03 to 0502 02/04. I know Tyson usually is pretty slow and the load most likely won't be ready till the morning. But, I drive over there anyway. Figured that I be getting a 10 over there anyway.

I got there at 1600 and what do you know. Surprise!!! The load is ready. Cool, I go hook to the trailer and get a ballpark weight on their scales. Go back to the gate to get bills and leave. 35k going to Phoenix and 6k going Riverside. That works for me. Load is loaded correctly anyway and is California legal according to Tyson scales. Went to CAT scale to verify the Tyson scale. Still Cali legal.

Drove to Santa Rosa, NM where I am currently shutdown for the night. I will drive another 8hrs 15min in the morning. The way the appointment times are, I can drive that time frame and still make OTD at both stops. It also allows me to gain hours on my 70 as I am currently running re-cap hours.

I seriously doubt anyone here would do this but would like to reiterate, please make sure you drop a clean trailer!

I picked up a sealed loaded trailer only to have the entire load rejected because of rotting meat on the floor. The prior driver saved himself an hour (or two) but cost me a wasted day jumping through hoops on a rejected load and possibly cost the company big money.

I've never cried to Daddy Christner before but I will on this one. The prior driver dropped the ball for sure, but so did the shipper for loading that nasty thing.

I averaged 7.77mpg for the month. It could be better, but part of that is when I first got into this truck and was figuring out where she likes to run.

I have never posted anything about my pay on any website. My pay is my business and will never share. Let's just say I made enough to more than cover my bills, save for taxes, and personal savings.
