That popping sound is from the air intake. Something with how it's designed when you suddenly let off the throttle and the turbo is spooled up to max the back pressure makes that sound. My kw with the mx13 did the same thing when I was at melton. It's just a quirk with the air intake on the mx13.

Well, there's definitely something wrong because I just topped off and I got 5.4 mpg on that last leg. I was only hauling 37000 pounds not even close to max gross. My next load is 39000. At these numbers, I'll be lucky to average 500 a week gross. It's ridiculous.

Are you running up north in blended fuel country? My cascadia was getting 5.5 before Christmas across 80 but it was nose into the wind, cruise as 61/1300 rpms, and about 8 degrees out. Was doing about 8mpg this week going to Salina from Tucumcari.

Yeah, I'm in Utah running across 80. I fueled at the loves in Cheyenne and I just topped off in Ogden. The thing is, my read outs are way off from the actual in both the qc and the overhead. I had my truck in the Kenworth shop a couple of weeks ago and they did some kind of software update and then I had to have my fuel filters changed because they were clogged solid. It seems like I'm getting 6.5 mt as well. I will keep testing it, but I may have to go have Kenworth run some diagnostics on my truck

Were you in the red KW at loves in Cheyenne yesterday? If so, I was the one putting my stickers on.

Well, this is my final day home. Coming back on the road tomorrow. Hope everyone had a good and safe Christmas and New Year. What's the current fuel surcharge?

They require Haz-Mat because they haul bulk contained/totes. It's a new requirement. Doesn't make sense but it is what it is

Didn't quote the message, but someone said they never top off their tanks. My question is why not?

no they do not require hazmat what they require is the tanker endorsement and that is a deal is a dot requirement for anybody pulling a van trailer because it anytime you can have a load where you are pulling liquid totes.
