This is the only thing I miss about being a company driver for Werner...they were insistent about truck and trailer inspections to the point of obsessiveness. I complained about it at the time..but in retrospect it was a positive for the driver. Every time I got NEAR a terminal I was forced into an inspection by professional mechanics and if it wasn't up to speed, I sat and waited for repairs. It did make me lazy and I didn't learn the difference between 2/16 and 3/16 but I passed every inspection. Currently I have a crack in my windshield and someone informed me that it might be illegal even though it's on the passenger side and doesn't obscure my view AT ALL. I was told I'm just waiting for a ticket...time to go deeper in the hole for something I had no control over.

DOT laws are crazy and arbitrary and aren't always about safety, despite some kiss ### drivers. Sometimes the government makes laws based on rare occurrences that get loud publicity...I'm talking safety here, not publicity.

I've been up US95 in AZ before to link up with I80. It's a good road with small towns dotted along it. On 95 is the only time I've seen a truckstop with a huge alien on it that is also a brothel. It says brothel right on the building. Also some of the towns have cattle guards right there in the middle of the road at the edge of town. So be prepared to hit those things at speed and wonder if your alignment survived it.

A buddy of mine ran the US roads for that route before. Once he got into Oregon he was wishing he just ran the 5. Said that the roads got narrow and no place to pull over in Oregon. And, he got there a couple of later than he would have he ran the 5. I've haven't run that route myself, that is just what he told me.

I figured running the us roads all the way would be something like that. Going up to Jerome ID then over on the interstate shouldent be that bad. Then again this load will probably be behind seeing as jbs is loading it, probably want to stay on the 5 for swaps.

I have a crack in my passenger windshield, way off down in the lower right corner.it runs parallel to the windshield wiper right under it so it's not noticeable, but even so the book says it should be fine as its not intersected by another crack or high...

I took the 395 out of Reno to Susanville, to the California 44 to the CA 89 to the 5 at Mt Shasta. Decent road, less miles and it saves the climb up and down Donner and then back up the Cascades.

I run 95 to the 15 then 84 thru Idaho to Oregon or Washington. Of course I go that way so I can stop by the house.

That's way to go. I used from Vegas to Seattle and that's the way we went. 95 to NV315 to 6 back to 95 then 84. There are plenty of places to stop on that route. It's better than going up 95 fewer towns less hills to pull. All good roads
