Picked up this load at City of Industry, CA yesterday. They finally finished up and sent me on my way at 5 pm L.A. time. It's a good thing that nothing happens at 5 to slow down L.A. traffic! I took off and plugged a hole in the I-5 traffic jam and moved along with it to the Flying J above the Grapevine.
Today was a pleasant drive with a light tail wind (they DO exist!) up the valley. I had a slight scare when I first started out. My jake brake wasn't working when I got started and I was looking at miles of 6% down ahead! With all of the issues I've had with Cascadia clutch switches I was afraid that I might have fried another one. Finally the jake engaged and I descended without any drama. Apparently, the jake doesn't work until the engine warms up. Anyone able to confirm this?
I stopped in Weed with an hour left on the clock. I'm behind the power curve on this trip so running farther today only lets me sleep in later tomorrow. Plus, IWEED!
So tomorrow is an 03:00 local time wake-up call and a mad dash to make a 10:00 appointment 324 miles away. Piece of cake! I'm hoping for a Wallula pre-plan so I can just blast over there and be done for the day. Soule_Man is lurking in these latitudes as well so we might be able to meet up.
October ended up with me driving 13,252 miles. I'm really going to try and cut back some in November! I think that taking Thanksgiving off will help me hold it down to 11k or so.
Running with JCT

@ Sharpp,
So close again. I was on my way there as well, but my fan clutch went out coming up the grade from Canyonville. I finally limped it into the Peterbilt shop in Phoenix. I sat there all night and they finally started wrenching on it a little while ago. A lot of cussing going on up front. I have not heard the OhOh yet, so I think we are still good to go.

Not sure if I asked this before, but will JCT take you if you already have your own truck and not lease one of theirs?
