Much of orientation is done in module/video format. Once you have your start date you will be given access. The stoner you are done with them the sooner you will select trucks. Then you will be able to head out with your first load as soon as your drug screen and contract are done.

I met up with Soule_Man last night at the Arrowhead Travel Plaza in Oregon after we both got loaded near Seattle. We hopped on the shuttle to the Wild Horse Casino for dinner and soon found ourselves in the bar listening to some live music. The menu was loaded with typical bar food with a few interesting exceptions and I soon settled on a bbq brisket sandwich. Soule_Man ordered the nachos and I decided to add an order of wings as an appetizer.

They had several varieties and heat levels. SM told me that the last time that he was in here, he ordered the #8 (ranked by heat) wings and that they were hot but tasty. That sounded good to me. I love hot food! The waiter showed up and took our main course orders. When I added on the wing order and said that I wanted the #8s, he looked at us like we were crazy.

He said, "You have to sign a waiver to get those!" SM told him that he didn't have to sign a waiver when he ordered them last time. That was my first indication that all was not well.

After some thought, we settled on down-ordering to the #7s. The waiter said that we had to sign a waiver for those too. Shoot. I always order the next to the hottest wings at Buffalo Wild Wings, how hot can 7 out of 10 be here? Well. . .

We got our beers and the waiver which read, in part: "I HEARBY RELEASE WILDHORSE RESORT AND CASINO AND HOLD MYSELF COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ADVERSE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, OR EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS THAT MAY OCCUR AS A RESULT OF MY EATING THE DREADED WINGS OF FIRE. . ." Emotional problems? Pure scare tactics! Bring 'em on!!!

The wings arrived and they looked pretty tasty. I grabbed one and took a bite without dipping it in ranch dressing to see what we were up against. Mmm, tasty! Wait a second. . .PAIN! The after-burners kicked in very quickly and I got a severe case of hiccups as my body's first response to the insult it had suffered. SM started laughing, but I noticed that he liberally slathered the ranch on his first wing. These were by far the hottest wings I've ever tried. They tasted like HATE. . . and WAR!

I decided to eat my tasty looking brisket and fries before melting any more taste buds and brain cells. When I had recovered a little, I managed to finish three more of the emotionally scarring, molten wings before considering what this would do to my digestive system later. SM, to his credit, ate SIX, aided perhaps by cooling his tongue with jalapenos from his nachos. He said that these were hotter than the ones he had before. No kidding? I was sure that we would need popsicle suppositories today!

I-84 was shut down for a few hours this morning due to a hazmat spill after a truck went off the road near Baker City. Soule_Man and I traveled together and stopped in Heyburn, Idaho for the night. He's on a long trip to Georgia and I'm within three hours of my destination for tomorrow night. I'll shoot down to Utah in the morning, still hoping for a swap to keep me rolling. If not, I'll enjoy a long break before my late night delivery.

Yeah, the way that I've been running I wonder how someone doesn't get miles too. Our taxes are pretty simple compared to "real" owner-operators. I signed up with ATBS in orientation. As for trucks, the Evolution is definitely the flavor of the month. I have to believe though that Kenworth and Peterbilt aren't going to sit idly by forever while a big account like JCT gives all of their business to Freightliner.

I believe the magic number is seven posts, unless it changed and I didn't get the memo.

Hey Can I get in the truck and head towards the office? Not that I would be an employee or anything but Man I'd sure like to help someone out and in turn get on with JCT!

I Think I will check to see what happens! What can they say? NO! I'm not sure how everything will work out. The truck would have to be inventoried, And inspected. But rather then them sending a hook to get it!. I don't know I'll give them a call.

They offer ATBS as a third party, but it's up to you if you want to use them or not. As far as multiple load offers...I don't know how the independents O/Os are dealt with, but we sometimes get multiple pre-plans. We have to accept or decline them. I just had to decline a preplan the other day because I was held up at a consignee, then again at the next shipper (I had a pre-plan I had already accepted and was at the shipper when another pre-plan arrived) so that I wouldn't have been able to make the pick up on time or the delivery either. If you can't make it happen, don't take it.

Way to show some initiative! You make yourself valuable to a company when you are willing to do things to help them save money. The worst thing they could say is "No, thank you."
