I made my Houston delivery on time. Another driver there said that it would take them 10 minutes to unload me then 3 hours for the paperwork. Fortunately he was wrong.
There was no pre-plan waiting so I headed to a little truck stop about a mile away. There was an auto parts store next door, so I went in and bought a selection of vacuum hose Tees to repair my windshield washer leak. I didn't expect to get a load today since weekends are iffy, and I was looking forward to doing laundry and cleaning up the truck a bit. There was a pre-plan waiting when I got back to the truck. Pick up some chicken in Center, Texas (it's NOT near the center!) bound for Tolleson, AZ. That's about 1,380 paid miles. The load is a drop and hook and delivers at the rude hour of 02:30 Wednesday. Bleh!
Center, Texas is just about on the Louisiana border. Who names these towns anyway? I deadheaded the 180 miles and got there hoping to use some of my 4 hours available to head west. No dice. Load's not ready. I have 1,201 paid miles (more like 1,260 total) to go and two days to get there. The elogs say that I have almost 22 hours available thru Tuesday. Running 150 miles tonight would have been ideal, but ideal and Tyson hardly go together. I bet they made those blistering-hot chicken wings I ate too!
There are worse assignments than to drive 650 miles in West Texas. This trip will put me at around 3,800 miles by the time the Qualcomm resets Tuesday afternoon. I gain only 5 hours on Wednesday before hitting some big numbers on recap, so it will be a short day no matter if I pick something up or not. A nice load out of Casa Grande up to the northwest would get me home (maybe) so let's hope for that!

Second on the Loves app. Would use the Pilot/e'F'n-J app too on my magic box (smart phone) but get those on the unmagic box (Qualcom).
99% of my fuel is at Loves since they are usually the cheapest by $0.01, plus I get $0.05 off of that plus another $0.04 onto the rewards card. Got almost $300 on the rewards card now......eyeing some new toys, I am!luvtotruck, Turbojet, Soule_Man and 1 other person Thank this. -

Another change of plan this a.m. Instead of trying to beat it into salt lake city on the remaining hrs on my 70 for a swap with a team, I swapped first thing right here in Cheyenne with a solo driver. New load delivers tomorrow p.m., so I end up with a nice 34-hr reset and get a full 70 back! Meantime I'm doing laundry, coursework, resting, etc.. Counted up 2,923 paid miles for the past week, amazing compared to my last company!
