My load in Center, TX wasn't ready until after 11 am yesterday morning. It's shameful what that "chicken-ship" company with a name that rhymes with, "Why son" does to us drivers. That left me with 40 hours to run 1,270 miles for this 02:30 delivery. There's no overnight parking at the shipper, so I'm parked virtually at the shipper and I'll virtually take an 8-hour sleeper-berth break, so I'll virtually be all legal and stuff. PITA, it's not just for lunch anymore. . . (google it) The good part was running with some funky tailwinds both days. I parked in Phoenix tonight showing 8.4 mpg for the day.
I'm planning on doing nothing more tomorrow than dead-heading to the Hook to do some laundry. If they send me a plan to pick up Thursday, then maybe I'll head over there, but I don't even have six hours available. You've got to love running 3,800 miles in a week, but it doesn't leave much time for anything else! -
Sounds like you had fun Sharpp. I unload here in Portland in the morning the. I'm off to load in Kent Wa headed to McDonough ga. Possibly with a swing through the house.
Drew352, The Challenger and Turbojet Thank this. -
With elogs how does JCT work a situation like that, do they allow you to get to a "safe haven" if a customer runs you out of hours at their dock?
-
If you can't slip under the radar back to safe parking you are expected to do what you must to get somewhere safe. Sending a Qc message informing the office why you are going into violation keeps the driver from having issues with the safety department. Keep in mind if you interrupt your ten hour break the only way to be legal is to take a full 10 hour break once you get re parked.

Good. A flatbed outfit I worked for a few years ago told me I wasn't allowed to move the truck at all. They told me to call a cab if I wanted to get food to a parking lot next to warehouse in a sketchy part of Pitttsburg.
That little gem came from the safety manager. Guess he never heard of drivers getting robbed or trucks hijacked.Last edited: Nov 13, 2013

Sharrp I ended up with a total of 3741 for this week. Had 31 min left on 70. After restart already got a load up to oregon. Dreadful tyson load. You definitely get the miles here at JCT.

Glad to hear it! I've been running on recap hours since the end of September. Decided to try and take the rest of the day off since I'm down to my formal wear in the laundry department. Tyson will oftentimes try your patience. Thankfully, our average length of haul helps take the sting out.

For heaven's sake, Sharpp, do some laundry! So true what you said re avg length of haul, at my former carrier that shipper/receiver stuff was almost every other day due to shorter runs, no detention pay...
Can someone explain about these 24HR loading windows with the meat loads, ie. A certain plant in Greeley, CO? Do they have to give each head of cattle a last meal of their choice and a cigarette before the end, and then play Beethoven's 7th for them like in "Soylent Green"? Hmmmmm. ..... I thought I saw Charleton Heston sneaking around there last night trying to break into a trailer. ..DADof3, BJnobear, TAfool and 1 other person Thank this.
