Never assume you know where the cheap fuel is. I use findfuelstops dot com every trip and each day of the trip to make sure I keep my fuel cost down. It allows me to run my current trip route from point to point and sort by lowest retail so I can plan accordingly.

As a owner op wouldn't you buy fuel in the states you run most or that has higher road tax so you won't have to pay much road tax at the end of the year? Unless the company your leased on to pays your road tax then yea it would be smart to look for cheap fuel.. I don't no much about this I'm just my homework b4 I take the leap..

For many owner ops the fuel purchases should be handled differently than of us at JCT. Our road taxes are covered for us so we can focus on purchasing each gallon at the absolutely lowest retail price we can.

Well I looked quickly at the medical and its not really insurance in what most have come to think of. Its a reimbursement plan, and like Sharpp said, it unimpressive but better than nothing...for now.

It looks like for the best available medical/dental coverage its about $150/wk.

    Sharpp Thanks this.

I just ran from Terra Haute to Detroit via Indianapolis. The fuel at a Pilot on the west side of Indiana was $3.09 and at a Pilot near Indy it was $3.29. A mileage difference of about 40 or so, I would say. Same company, same trucks dragging the diesel in and a $.20 difference? Cray cray! Predicting fuel prices is a fool's errand. Finding it isn't that much easier.

Saw JCT running west on the PA turnpike going up Sideling Hill about the 155 or so mark. Was it anyone on this thread?

Just saw Trafficcontrolxl at the New Stanton cash box coming off the PA pike. I waved, I think he only waved back because he didn't want to upset the crazy guy. Nice ride BTW.

    Trafficcontrolxl Thanks this.

I saw a temperature drop of 25 degrees in a matter of a few miles today. I was cruising just east of OKC enjoying some light breezes and 68 degrees. Ahead, I could see some darker clouds near the city. Within twenty miles or so the A/C was off and the heat was on in some windy, 43 degree weather! Here just north of Duncan it's blowing like stink and cold enough for me to put off foraging for food a little while longer, lol.

I was a little bit surprised not to swap this load. Ah well, delivery at 07:30 and off to somewhere else.
