If your company pays fuel tax, like JCT, you simply want to by the cheapest at the pump price. If they don't, doing as you suggest(buying fuel in the state you run the most/have the highest fuel taxes is a great way to overpay for fuel. If your paying your own fuel taxes you need to buy fuel based on the pre-tax price of the fuel. Any overage you pay in one state will go to cover a shortage in another. Having to pay a little at the end of each quarter is way better then paying too much for your fuel. Your gonna pay the same amount in taxes no matter what but if you pay just $.05 more per gallon of fuel over the course of a year the average OTR driver will be out $1,250.

It was a white Cascadia westbound. I was running east with 42k of scrap metal for Camden out of Pittsburg. I guess it was around 1130-noon.

My Lawton daughters both commented on the rapid drop. A friend of theirs was dressed for the warmth when it hit...and went running to her car for warmth! I'm sitting in the snow in Sheboygan waiting for the first of 3 stores to open for delivery. It always happens. I'm early, they're not. If I'm one minute late, they've been waiting and are on the phone.

A large majority of our loads go to or from the west coast. I'm finishing up a loop from Oklahoma to Portland to kent wa to Austell ga to virginia back to missiouri then I'm off to the house for thanksgiving.

I experienced that today. While driving my 76,000 lb commercial motor vehicle in blowing snow, with reduced visibility, and a road that was slippery and not very visible, some maniac in a hot car roared past me and right in front, then hit his brakes to avoid rear-ending the car that was just barely a safe distance in front of me...and skidded all over the place.

    Idiot.

I salivate just thinking about all that driving. More than 300 miles per day? Incredible!
