Winco foods in Modesto is the model of how things should be done! I checked in the office after bumping the dock and got the lumper amount (ok, THAT'S one area for improvement. Look at Costco you guys!) Got back to the truck and sent in the lumper request at 08:12. Got the authorization in LESS than a minute AND they were already starting to unload. Lumper collects the EFS check 10 minutes later. At 08:41, lumper comes out and hands me my paperwork. "Have a buenos dias." Back to the guard shack with my doors closed (yep, no checking the back here), hand her the pass and it's, "Hasta la vista" for me. I've spent more time at a drop and hook. Now if only JCT would shoot me a pre-plan!

    Sharpp,

Does JCT let your lump a trailer or do they make you hire lumpers? If they do let you how much do you get paid?

Got a pre-plan going from Lemoore, CA to Hiram, OH (just SE of Cleveland) for 2,587 paid miles. Those will be the only miles on the settlement that will be paid on 12/26. For next week's settlement, I'll have 3,563 miles. And so the the up/down cycle goes.

For next week, those 3,563 miles are paired up with about 6.8 mpg. That was Henderson, NV to Yuma, AZ to New Caney, TX, some ice skating, then back to Modesto, CA. Rough estimate given those numbers is earnings of $1,440. This week will be a 40,000 pound load going east. If I can hold onto this nice, aerodynamic trailer, I think I can get at least 7.3 mpg. . .maybe more. If so, I'll make at least $1,050 for the week.

The best thing with this load is that it will give me the chance to get in a 34-hour reset at home. I have the hours to just run it, but why not be lazy, lol. I'll just check in with my DM tomorrow and make sure that we're on the same page and that she doesn't need a swap down the line. Of course, before committing to sitting around, I'll check the all-important weather. I hope that all of you are having tail winds and dry pavement, lol. As if!

Got laid off my current local job and thinking hard about JCT. Do they have good freight out of Florida? I know it can be hard to get out of this state. I live in Plant CIty. About 20 miles west of Tampa.

Don't you mean EAST of Tampa? I've delivered to Lakeland and Winter Haven quite a bit, along with Orlando and Dover among others. Orange juice will get you out of there. I've never HAD to spend a summer's day or GOTTEN to spend a winter's day there, lol. I've picked up the juice in Dunedin, Bradenton, Auburndale, Umatilla, and maybe some others. Some of our best loads will run you to Florida: apples from Washington and cheese from California for example. I think that Plant City would probably be the best Florida address for a JCT driver.

Yep. East of Tampa. My bad. I don't live in a house boat. Ha!. I've mostly driven OTR, just the last few months local. Just don't make the money down here unless you're OTR. I've been a O/O in the past, so I'm looking into their lease program. Like the sound of the coast to coast runs.
